Drew McIntyre Discusses The Rock's Early Support

Drew McIntyre Credits The Rock for Early Support, Reflects on WWE Future and Roman Reigns Rivalry – WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre opened up in a new interview on Gorilla Position, offering insight into his enduring friendship with The Rock, his physical condition, and where he sees his future in the company.

McIntyre praised The Rock as a consistent mentor and supporter throughout his career, even during his early days when he was far from the main event scene.

“He’s always been there since I was a kid, and he’s in and out of WWE. He always took the time to give me advice. Has always looked out for me the entire time when he’s around,” McIntyre said.

He shared a memory of a flight encounter with The Rock’s former wife and business partner Dany Garcia, who had encouraging words for him when he was still considered a lower-card act.

“I still remember being a kid, and it was ex-wife business partner, Danny [Garcia], was on a flight I was on and had such positive words to say when I was so young, which was really cool… even when I was doing nothing. The 3MB guy, they was still there giving advice.”

McIntyre also recalled a key moment when The Rock publicly praised him during a TMZ interview, even before his 2020 Royal Rumble push. “He just always believed in me. And thank goodness, things have kind of come to pass eventually.”

As for his physical condition, the former WWE Champion didn’t sugarcoat the wear and tear of the business.

“It certainly doesn’t feel as good as it used to, that it looks better than it ever has… but on the inside, it doesn’t feel great. So we’ll see. I just take each year as it comes.”

Citing fellow veteran Sheamus as inspiration, McIntyre joked, “I look at Seamus and he’s just turned you know, 87 he’s still going stronger than ever. So you never know.”

He closed with a comment on his storied rivalry with Roman Reigns, hinting that their saga is far from over.

“I’m sure we’ll find our way back to each other in heaven.”

During the same interview, McIntyre also discussed about his feud with CM Punk in 2024.
