Drew McIntyre Taking Time Off – Drew McIntyre was on the receiving end of a savage beatdown at the May 24th edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, and according to reports, it could be his final appearance on WWE television for some time.
During the event, McIntyre faced Damian Priest in a Steel Cage Match. Despite a valiant effort, McIntyre came up short after Priest delivered a vicious Con-Chair-To. The current WWE star then casually exited the cage, leaving McIntyre unconscious in the ring. The brutal finish effectively closed the door on this chapter of McIntyre’s run.
According to PWInsider, McIntyre is expected to be off WWE programming for the foreseeable future. Sources within the company indicate that the former WWE Champion has been “working hurt for some time,” and Saturday’s match was designed as a storyline exit to allow him to take an extended break. There is currently no timetable for his return.
This development follows McIntyre’s punishing loss at WWE Backlash: St. Louis, where he took another heavy beating. After that show, Triple H provided a post-show update, further hinting at McIntyre’s compromised physical condition.
McIntyre’s absence will be felt, as he has been a key figure in WWE’s main event scene since returning to prominence in 2020. Whether this signals a long-term hiatus or a temporary break to recover remains to be seen, but for now, the Scottish Warrior is off the battlefield.
