Lyra Valkyria Says Conor McGregor Isn’t WWE Material, Reflects on Her Rise and Irish Pride – WWE RAW’s Lyra Valkyria has dismissed the idea of Conor McGregor succeeding in the wrestling world, stating bluntly that “he doesn’t have what it takes.” Speaking to the Irish Mirror following her historic win as the first-ever WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion, Valkyria didn’t hold back in assessing the UFC star’s chances in WWE.
Valkyria, whose real name is Aoife Cusack, shared her thoughts while riding high on the momentum of her title win. “It feels amazing. I feel on top of the world,” she said about her recent championship victory.
When asked about the possibility of McGregor transitioning to WWE, she firmly responded, “He doesn’t have what it takes.” Her comments stand in contrast to years of rumors and teases about McGregor possibly joining WWE, a move that has never materialized.
Despite her doubts about McGregor, Valkyria expressed strong pride in the increasing number of Irish talents making waves in WWE, particularly on RAW. “The amount of Irish on RAW alone is incredible. It’s such a talented bunch to have come from our country, so I’m really proud to be a part of that,” she said.
Since debuting on RAW in May 2024, Valkyria has experienced a meteoric rise. That journey has already included a WrestleMania moment and the chance to tag with her longtime idol, Becky Lynch.
She reflected on the surreal nature of her success, recalling, “So to go from sitting in the NXT box watching WrestleMania last year, to tag teaming with Becky one year later is insane.”
Valkyria’s rapid ascent and confident presence continue to position her as one of WWE’s brightest new stars, all while carrying the flag for Ireland on a global stage.
