MJF Officially Joins The Hurt Syndicate – On the May 21 edition of AEW Dynamite, MJF officially signed on as the newest member of The Hurt Syndicate in a high-profile in-ring segment alongside MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin. The contract signing marked the latest development in MJF’s career shift following his recent return to AEW.
The segment began with MVP announcing that the group had an official statement to make. He acknowledged the significance of the moment, revealing that MJF had finally earned Bobby Lashley’s approval to join The Hurt Syndicate. MVP closed by referencing MJF’s famous catchphrase, saying, “MJF is better than you, and you know it.”
MJF then made his entrance to a strong reaction. In classic form, he compared the occasion to a major life milestone. “This reminds me of when my mom told me the most important day of my life would be my wedding—but no, it’s today, because I’m joining The Hurt Syndicate,” MJF declared, before taking a shot at the local crowd by calling their home “a state everybody forgets exists.”
His lawyer, Mark Sterling, was on hand to present the contract. Sterling explained that the agreement was mutually beneficial and required all parties’ signatures. MJF, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin signed without hesitation, while Lashley took a moment before ultimately agreeing and putting pen to paper. MJF then proclaimed it to be “the greatest moment of his life.”
The celebration was cut short when The Sons of Texas — Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara — interrupted. MJF began to antagonize the pair, but Rhodes quickly shut him down. “All you ever do is talk, MJF. I hate your guts,” Rhodes said bluntly. While he expressed respect for MVP, he warned him to be cautious about trusting MJF.
Rhodes declared that both he and Guevara were coming for more championship gold and made it clear they weren’t intimidated. “There is nothing The Hurt Syndicate can do to us that we haven’t already been put through by better men,” Rhodes said. He ended the promo by affirming that he and Guevara fight with “heart, passion, and fire.”
The confrontation sets the stage for a brewing rivalry between The Hurt Syndicate and The Sons of Texas, potentially leading to a high-stakes tag team feud in the weeks ahead.
