WWE SmackDown’s Three-Hour Format May Continue Into June – WWE Friday Night SmackDown may continue airing as a three-hour program on the USA Network into the first part of June 2025, contrary to previous expectations.
When SmackDown made its move to the USA Network earlier this year, the show was extended to a three-hour format. At the time, reports indicated the expansion was temporary, with the traditional two-hour structure expected to return by June 6. However, new details from PWInsider suggest that plan may be shifting.
According to the report, internal scheduling documents at USA Network still show SmackDown listed with a three-hour runtime for the early weeks of June. While it’s possible these listings haven’t been updated yet, the detail raises the possibility that WWE and the network are at least considering continuing the extended format beyond its originally intended window.
The three-hour version of SmackDown has drawn mixed reviews from WWE fans. Some appreciate the added time for more matches and storylines, while others feel the longer runtime slows down the pacing and leads to filler content — a criticism long directed at Monday Night RAW, which has been three hours for years.
WWE and USA Network have not issued any official comments on the future duration of SmackDown, but if the internal listings prove accurate, fans could be in for several more weeks of the longer format. Whether this is a short-term extension or a step toward making the change permanent remains to be seen.
