
AEW Collision: Beach Break Spoilers for May 17 – All Elite Wrestling taped the May 17 edition of AEW Collision on Tuesday, May 14, from the NOW Arena in Chicago, Illinois. The Beach Break-themed episode includes several storyline developments and a special tribute to NFL legend and wrestling icon Steve “Mongo” McMichael.
The show opened with Megan Bayne (accompanied by Penelope Ford) scoring a victory over Anna Jay (with Harley Cameron).
AEW then taped a heartfelt tribute to Steve “Mongo” McMichael, hosted by Tony Schiavone. Mongo’s wife Misty McMichael was brought out and praised her late husband as the most special man in her life, highlighting his influence in both football and pro wrestling. Dean Malenko was introduced, and Schiavone recounted McMichael’s athletic achievements. With May being ALS Awareness Month, Schiavone acknowledged McMichael’s long battle with the disease. Ric Flair then made a surprise appearance, receiving a warm reception. Flair reminisced about his history in Chicago and praised McMichael’s fight, calling him “more man than anyone I’ve ever known.” The crowd gave a loud chant for Mongo as Flair thanked AEW and Tony Khan for allowing the tribute.
In match action:
- ROH Champion Bandido, Tomohiro Ishii, and Brody King defeated Rocky Romero, Lance Archer, and Trent Beretta. After the match, the winners were attacked until The Outrunners made the save.
- Mike Bailey pinned Blake Christian, then called out Kazuchika Okada. Okada came out, but Rush and Dralístico ambushed Bailey before anything could unfold.
- Big Bill and Bryan Keith defeated The Gates of Agony in a chaotic and weapons-filled Chicago Street Fight.
- Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara, current ROH Tag Team Champions, defeated Cru. With this win, they secured a title match against the Hurt Syndicate at Double or Nothing.
- Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Wheeler Yuta. After the match, Marina Shafir attacked Yuta, but Willow Nightingale made the save, continuing her recent involvement in high-profile moments.
This episode of Collision builds toward Double or Nothing, while honoring McMichael with a touching tribute that resonated with the Chicago crowd.
