Mina Shirakawa Secures AEW Women’s Title Shot at Double or Nothing – Mina Shirakawa has officially earned her first AEW Women’s Championship opportunity after scoring a major win in her AEW in-ring debut.
On the May 14 AEW Dynamite: Beach Break special, Shirakawa emerged victorious in a four-way AEW Women’s Title Eliminator match against reigning champion Toni Storm, AZM, and Skye Blue. The match marked Shirakawa’s first bout as an official AEW roster member following her departure from STARDOM earlier this year.
The finish came in dramatic fashion when Storm went for her signature big package pinning combination, only for Shirakawa to reverse it into an even tighter cradle to steal the three count. By pinning the current AEW Women’s Champion, Shirakawa has secured herself a title shot at AEW Double or Nothing on May 25 in Glendale, Arizona.
The match featured notable storylines for each competitor. Skye Blue returned to the ring after being sidelined since July 2024 due to an ankle injury. AZM, meanwhile, represented NJPW STRONG as its reigning Women’s Champion and brought fast-paced offense throughout the match.
Shirakawa’s victory sets the stage for a high-profile title clash with Toni Storm at one of AEW’s flagship pay-per-view events. With her charisma, international fanbase, and momentum from this win, Shirakawa enters Double or Nothing as a credible and unpredictable challenger to Storm’s title reign.
