Cody Rhodes Returns to Save Jey Uso, Ruins Cena's Plan

Cody Rhodes Returns to Save Jey Uso, Ruins Cena’s Plan – Cody Rhodes made a dramatic return during the May 24th edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, stepping in to rescue WWE World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso from an assault by John Cena in the show’s main event.

Earlier in the night, Cena made quick work of R-Truth in a singles match. Backstage, he confronted Jey Uso with a pointed warning, expressing his disdain for the current state of WWE’s championships. Cena said he would be watching Uso’s title defense closely and added that if he retired the championship while Logan Paul—whom Cena referred to disparagingly as a “YouTuber”—won the other major title, it would complete his mission of ruining wrestling.

Cena made good on his threat by interfering in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match between Jey Uso and Logan Paul, attacking Uso during the bout. However, the tide turned when Cody Rhodes’ entrance music hit, prompting a thunderous reaction from the crowd. This marked Rhodes’ first appearance since losing the Undisputed WWE Championship to Cena in the main event of WrestleMania 41.

Rhodes charged to the ring and fought off Cena, allowing Uso to regroup and ultimately defeat Logan Paul to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Title. Cena’s attempt to sabotage the title picture was foiled, much to the fans’ delight.

After the match, Rhodes grabbed a microphone and laid down a challenge for WWE Money in the Bank: he and Jey Uso vs. John Cena and Logan Paul in tag team action. WWE has not yet officially confirmed the match, but it’s expected to be added to the card in the coming days.
