Backstage News on WWE's Internal View of Corey Graves

Backstage News on WWE’s Internal View of Corey Graves – Corey Graves’ 2025 got off to a rough start, but the longtime WWE commentator appears to have turned things around in a big way. After an early-year demotion and public frustrations with the company, Graves is now reportedly earning high praise for his recent performances—particularly his commentary work on the WWE x AAA Worlds Collide event and his return to the RAW announce desk this week.

Graves’ year began with turmoil. In February, his wife Carmella was quietly released when her contract expired, and shortly after, Graves himself was moved from the main roster commentary team to NXT. The shift wasn’t well received by Graves, who voiced his displeasure publicly and even teased addressing the issue on air. WWE responded by pulling him from television for a week.

Despite that rocky stretch, PWInsider reports that things have dramatically improved behind the scenes. Following Graves’ performance on June 7 at Worlds Collide and his fill-in role on the June 17 episode of RAW (standing in for Pat McAfee), internal reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. His Worlds Collide showing is said to have “raised his profile internally,” with sources indicating that even higher-ups in TKO Holdings took notice.

One source stated that any prior friction between Graves and WWE has “been all but forgotten.” Another emphasized that Graves has demonstrated a strong desire to contribute and prove himself to both WWE and the new TKO leadership.

Graves had previously held full-time commentary roles on both RAW and SmackDown before stepping back to a more limited schedule. Now, with renewed backstage momentum and strong internal support, it appears Graves may be on the verge of reclaiming a larger role on WWE programming.
