Damage CTRL Officially Disbanded

Damage CTRL Officially Disbanded – After months of internal shifts, WWE has officially disbanded Damage CTRL, the once-dominant women’s faction that debuted at SummerSlam 2022. According to a new report from Fightful Select, the decision to dissolve the group was made behind the scenes in early May, coinciding with the release of founding member Dakota Kai.

While fans may have already noticed subtle signs that the group was no longer being presented as a cohesive unit, the latest report confirms it: WWE has moved on from the faction, and the remaining members are no longer being announced as part of Damage CTRL. This internal change also aligns with Kai’s departure and a string of injuries that left only IYO SKY active.

Bayley, the faction’s original leader, had already been ousted from the group in the buildup to her WrestleMania victory, marking a major turning point. Kai’s release came shortly after, and at the time, Asuka and Kairi Sane were both off television due to injuries. By the time Sane returned, WWE had already made the call to officially end the stable.

Even Asuka’s imminent return was reportedly booked with the understanding that Damage CTRL was no longer a factor in WWE’s creative plans. This confirms the group’s quiet but definitive end, even if no official breakup angle was played out on TV.

Damage CTRL had a solid run, forming when Bayley returned from injury and introduced IYO SKY and Dakota Kai as her new allies. The group quickly made an impact, winning the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships twice and later expanding to include Asuka and Kairi Sane, turning it into a five-woman powerhouse by late 2023.

Though the stable is officially done, Fightful noted that this doesn’t necessarily rule out future team-ups involving its former members. WWE has also left the door open to potentially revive the “Damage CTRL” name if creative needs arise.
