Corey Graves Not Appearing on Tonight’s NXT – After sparking widespread discussion with his candid social media post, Corey Graves will not be appearing on tonight’s episode of WWE NXT. His absence comes amid reports of his frustration with his current role within the company.
Graves first appeared on NXT commentary during the January 7 New Year’s Evil special, a surprising move after Pat McAfee and Michael Cole took over RAW commentary. Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett now call SmackDown, leaving Graves reassigned to NXT. His frustrations became public when he posted on Twitter:
“Imagine chasing your dream. Then being TOLD (not deciding) that you’re no longer physically able to pursue your dream. Then you dedicate your life to something ‘dream adjacent’ and being pretty f**king awesome at it. And then, when it’s time to enjoy the fruits of your labor, being told you’re not famous enough for your own job. Just in case you’ve wondered where I’ve been.”
Earlier today, Corey Graves hinted at a significant announcement for tonight’s episode of WWE NXT, but it appears things have taken a different turn. PWInsider reports that Graves was spotted leaving Orlando earlier in the day, confirming he will not participate in tonight’s NXT broadcast. Fightful Select corroborated reports of Graves’ dissatisfaction, citing those close to him who described his frustration as genuine. Despite living in Pittsburgh, he had not been scheduled for rehearsals in Orlando.
A WWE higher-up noted that Graves has been praised for his flexibility and dedication, and they expect him to return to RAW or SmackDown by the spring. Internally, his reassignment to NXT was considered temporary, tied to scheduling shifts involving McAfee’s fall availability.
Graves has not issued a follow-up statement, leaving fans to wonder how this situation might impact his WWE future or hint at a potential in-ring return.
