TKO Group Denies WWE Sale Rumors – Amid growing online speculation, TKO Group Holdings has firmly denied rumors that it is planning to sell WWE. Reports had circulated suggesting the possibility of a sale, with some even theorizing that Vince McMahon might be involved in efforts to buy the company back. However, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the story has been strongly refuted by TKO insiders.
Meltzer addressed the situation on his show, explaining that the sale rumors lacked credibility and were contradicted by both public and private responses from within the company.
“The stories of him [Vince McMahon] somehow buying WWE, and I even saw a line in a story about how TKO is looking to sell WWE and it’s like, aside from that being denied all day, TKO has just saved between $100 million and $150 million by essentially removing so many jobs and things like that because they could operate UFC and WWE with the same office staff,” Meltzer said.
He went on to explain that, from a financial standpoint, a sale would make little sense. Since the formation of TKO—following the UFC-WWE merger under Endeavor—executives have aggressively streamlined operations and reduced overlapping roles. These efficiencies have saved the company significant money, giving it little incentive to divest from WWE.
The speculation gained traction online in recent weeks, fueled in part by the ongoing legal and public relations challenges surrounding McMahon, along with his recent exit from the TKO board. However, as of now, there is no indication that TKO is considering a sale or that McMahon is attempting to re-acquire WWE in any capacity.
