Shane McMahon Denies Rumors of Starting New Promotion with Vince – Shane McMahon has publicly addressed swirling speculation about his and Vince McMahon’s future in the wrestling industry, putting an end to rumors that the two were planning to launch a new wrestling promotion together. He also confirmed, for the first time, that he has met with AEW officials.
In a brief interview with TMZ, Shane was asked about the ongoing rumors that he and his father were considering starting a rival company. He dismissed the speculation outright, stating: “You never know what’s gonna happen out there, of course, and it can happen in WWE, but those rumors are false.”
When asked about potentially joining AEW, Shane offered a surprising confirmation: “Had a meeting with AEW and wish them continued success,” before adding, “But it’s not WWE, it’s not the company I helped build. But you never know what’s gonna happen in this business.”
Shane also addressed rumors about Vince McMahon trying to regain control of WWE, given his remaining stake in TKO Group Holdings. “Well, he’s a big part of TKO still, so we never know what’s gonna happen there, either,” he said. “So I’m not trying to be vague. I’m just saying anything can happen.”
On Vince McMahon’s post-WWE life since his resignation from TKO and WWE in January 2024, Shane gave a brief but positive update: “He’s been doing really well. He’s enjoying life….but if you know my dad, he’s always gung ho, and he’s always doing the next thing, and that’s what he’s focused on.”
This marks Shane’s most direct public statement regarding his current status in wrestling and his recent interactions with AEW, which had previously only been rumored.
