JBL Praises GUNTHER’s Title Win Over Jey Uso, Comments on Potential Goldberg Match

JBL Praises GUNTHER’s Title Win Over Jey Uso, Comments on Potential Goldberg Match – On a recent episode of his Something to Wrestle podcast, WWE Hall of Famer JBL shared his enthusiastic support for WWE’s decision to have GUNTHER defeat Jey Uso to capture the World Heavyweight Championship. JBL, known for his own lengthy reign as WWE Champion, expressed appreciation for the shift in booking strategy and what it could mean for the overall storytelling within WWE.

“I like what they did,” JBL said. “I don’t know where they’re headed with this, but I kind of like the fact that they changed things up.” He went on to compare the current landscape to previous eras in wrestling, noting that frequent title changes during the early 2000s gave way to extended reigns like those of Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes. “It’s good to switch stuff up. You never know what might happen,” he added.

According to JBL, unpredictability adds to the intrigue of WWE programming. “We used to always say we should switch some titles on the house shows, just so people know that something could happen,” he explained.

JBL also made it clear that Jey Uso’s loss doesn’t take away from his star power. “Look, Jey’s still in the main event picture. He’s still Jey Uso. I don’t care if he has a title or not.” He praised the possibility of a renewed partnership with Jimmy Uso, calling it a great move for Jey’s longevity in WWE. “You can argue that [The Usos] may end up being the greatest tag team of all time,” JBL stated. “He can go from being this great singles main event guy to being in this great tag team and back and forth. Man, that is a long shelf life.”

JBL also weighed in on the rumored match between GUNTHER and Goldberg, possibly set for an upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event. “I think it’s fantastic,” he said. “You need a big heel like GUNTHER, a big, tough guy. It’s, I think, the perfect matchup for Goldberg, if that’s where they go.”

With GUNTHER’s reign just beginning and speculation swirling around Goldberg’s return, JBL’s comments reflect both veteran insight and excitement for WWE’s current direction.
