Stacks Defeats Tony D’Angelo at NXT Battleground – Tensions within the now-fractured D’Angelo Family finally erupted at WWE NXT Battleground, as Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo took on his former mentor, Tony D’Angelo, in a grudge match months in the making.
The match stemmed from Stacks’ shocking betrayal at NXT Stand & Deliver, where he turned on D’Angelo, Adriana Rizzo, and Luca Crusifino. At Battleground, Stacks attempted to manipulate the emotional stakes further. In a dramatic moment during the match, he told D’Angelo he had made a mistake and apologized for turning on The Family. D’Angelo didn’t waver, replying coldly, “You made your bed, now you gotta lay in it.”
As the emotional showdown unfolded, Luca Crusifino appeared at ringside. He watched silently while Stacks lay on the mat, seemingly out of options. However, as D’Angelo turned his back to stare down Crusifino, Stacks seized the opportunity, delivering a low blow from behind. He followed up with a devastating running knee strike to get the pinfall victory over his former boss.
After the match, Stacks left alone, not looking back. Crusifino entered the ring and approached D’Angelo, attempting a gesture of unity with an embrace. D’Angelo, however, rejected the offer and walked away without a word, leaving Crusifino standing alone in the ring.
With D’Angelo clearly unwilling to reconcile and Stacks fully embracing his betrayal, the future of The Family appears more unstable than ever.
