Goldberg Shares Update on Training and Recovery Ahead of WWE Retirement Match – WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg has provided a new update on his preparation for his long-awaited retirement match, which is scheduled to take place in WWE during the summer of 2025.
During a recent episode of the Carcast podcast, the 58-year-old legend opened up about his current physical condition and progress in training. Goldberg confirmed that he is feeling better and slowly putting on weight as he continues to build toward his final in-ring appearance.
“I feel a little bit better, I’ve gained a little bit of weight man… I’m getting there man, I’ve got a little bit of time left,” Goldberg said, before adding, “Slowly but surely, Rome wasn’t built in a day.”
Importantly, Goldberg revealed that he is “injury free as of right now,” a crucial factor in his ability to train consistently. However, he admitted that it’s still “really tough to control myself” as he works to manage expectations and physical limitations at this stage in his career.
Addressing his shoulder rehabilitation process, Goldberg described it in mechanical terms, comparing it to restoring a car from scratch. “It’s like rebuilding a car. You’ve got to strip it down to the bare minimum and sequentially build it in a logical form… I can’t get overzealous and put shit on before it’s time,” he explained.
Despite the challenges, Goldberg remains optimistic, saying, “It’s a very slow process but I think the way I’m going about it is hopefully gonna work.”
While no official date or opponent has been confirmed by WWE for the match, Goldberg’s comments suggest that he is fully committed to ending his career on his own terms.
