Goldberg Trains with MMA Fighters for Retirement Match – WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg is actively preparing for what he expects to be the final match of his professional wrestling career. The iconic powerhouse has set his sights on competing this summer, with training already underway as he looks to conclude his storied run on his own terms.
Goldberg last stepped into the ring at the 2022 WWE Elimination Chamber premium live event, where he was defeated by Roman Reigns. Since then, speculation has persisted about a possible return, especially after his appearance last October at WWE Bad Blood, where he confronted then-World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER. That segment reignited interest in a potential match between the two heavy-hitters.
In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Goldberg confirmed he is working toward a retirement bout and acknowledged that several opponents are under consideration, including Bron Breakker and the reigning World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER. Goldberg did not confirm any match as official, but emphasized that discussions are ongoing.
Adding to the buzz, the Black Diamond Martial Arts Academy revealed via Instagram that they are currently working with Goldberg. According to the post, the WWE Hall of Famer is incorporating mixed martial arts training into his preparation, signaling a serious and disciplined approach as he readies for his farewell performance.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter previously reported that WWE had intended to book a match between Goldberg and GUNTHER, though it’s unclear if those original plans are still in motion.
Whether or not the proposed match with GUNTHER materializes, Goldberg appears determined to end his career with one final high-profile outing, potentially marking the end of an era in WWE history.
