John Cena Confirms Hair Transplant, Fires Back at Fans for Mocking Bald Spot – John Cena isn’t ignoring the internet jokes — in fact, he’s embracing them. During a candid appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, the 17-time world champion opened up about the jokes surrounding his visible bald spot, confirming he’s undergone a hair transplant and isn’t ashamed to admit it.
“It’s coming in. I listen to you idiots, I do,” Cena told McAfee, acknowledging the signs and chants that have followed him in arenas over the past several months.
When fellow WWE broadcaster Michael Cole asked about the process, Cena gave a detailed and humorous explanation: “You have to take the ones from the side and plug them in on top. It just takes a while to come in. It’s coming in. Hopefully, in a couple of months it looks better.” He continued, “There’s another headline. Hair transplant. There is no shame in that. I have a problem, I try to fix it.”
Cena said the procedure was done back in November 2024 and that he started losing hair again soon after — a common part of the recovery process. “You get the deal and your hair falls out because the new ones have to grow, so the old ones fall out. January, February, I had it in November. That’s when I came half a skinhead.”
Reflecting on the fan reaction, Cena shared that he felt the criticism crossed a line, even if it was delivered with humor:
“You guys ripped me to shreds for genetic problem that I can’t control. ‘You don’t look good enough out there.’ You guys aren’t cool to me. I’m in the Rumble trying to win. ‘Man has a bald spot.’ That’s not fair. I can’t control that. It happens to seven out of ten dudes.”
In typical Cena fashion, he balanced frustration with self-deprecating humor, but he didn’t mince words when describing the impact the chants had on him:
“That is straight-up bullying and not cool. Thank you for bullying me into getting surgical hair replacement. That’s how far y’all pushed me.”
Cena closed out the segment saying he won’t reveal his doctor yet, but once he’s happy with the results, he might just pass along the recommendation:
“Once it’s better and I get the long flowing locks, I’ll be like, ‘Go to this guy.’ I’m working on it. Work in progress.”
The update comes just a few hours after Cena captured his record-breaking 17th world title by defeating Cody Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania 41 – Night 2. While his in-ring success continues to make history, Cena is proving he’s just as human as the rest of us when it comes to dealing with aging — and internet commentary.
