Mariah May Now Known as Blake Monroe – Mariah May has officially received her WWE ring name, and it’s already stirring up mixed reactions. During the June 11 episode of WWE NXT, the former AEW star was introduced in a stylized vignette, which debuted her new persona: Blake Monroe.
The vignette, heavily inspired by Toni Storm’s “Timeless” gimmick with a splash of Barbie glamour, aired just moments after WWE quietly updated May’s official social media handles to reflect the new identity. That move tipped off fans online before the name was formally unveiled on television.
May’s repackaging was widely expected. During her NXT debut last week, commentators deliberately avoided using her name on commentary, a sign that WWE was preparing to rename her. A similar approach was taken earlier this year with former AEW star Ricky Starks, who was introduced under a different name but ultimately kept “Ricky” and became Ricky Saints.
Though her first program on NXT has not been officially announced, the presentation of Blake Monroe suggests the company has major plans. Current speculation points to an eventual feud with NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne, given the level of production behind Monroe’s introduction and the immediate buzz around her debut.
This marks a significant chapter for Monroe, who left AEW earlier this year after a brief but high-profile stint that included winning the AEW Women’s World Championship. In WWE, the Blake Monroe character appears designed for fast-tracking into the women’s title picture, consistent with how WWE has handled other top-tier female talent acquisitions.
As with many name changes in WWE, fan response has been divided. Some see “Blake Monroe” as a fitting evolution, while others believe the Mariah May name carried more weight given her international work and AEW success.
