WWE to Launch NXT Evolve as Replacement for Level Up – The conclusion of NXT Level Up at the end of 2024 marked the end of an era, but WWE has plans to introduce a new NXT-related show. According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the program, titled NXT Evolve, is set to debut later in 2025.
When NXT transitioned to The CW network, much of its programming shifted as well. Older NXT shows were moved from Peacock to the CW App, leaving Level Up in limbo. Initially launched on February 18, 2022, as a replacement for 205 Live, Level Up continued to air on Peacock until WWE opted to discontinue it.
The upcoming NXT Evolve will serve as a platform for developmental talent who don’t regularly appear on NXT’s primary television programming. Gabe Sapolsky, a veteran of the wrestling industry and co-founder of EVOLVE, will oversee the project. Sapolsky has a storied history, including working with Paul Heyman in ECW and serving as head booker and talent relations for Ring of Honor.
In his report, Dave Meltzer noted that NXT Evolve will differentiate itself by offering a more comprehensive storytelling approach compared to Level Up. Meltzer wrote:
“Level Up is being replaced by something called NXT Evolve, although not at the start of the year. We’ve heard to expect it in a few months. It’s a Gabe Sapolsky project and essentially would be people in developmental but not on NXT television regularly, like Level Up. I think that instead of just matches, [they plan] to do angles and promos and book it more like a television show. It will be shows taped only for television/streaming.”
With Sapolsky’s creative input and WWE’s resources, NXT Evolve promises to deliver a fresh take on developmental programming while giving emerging talent a chance to shine.
