Yet Another Update on Potential 2025 WWE Draft – WWE is reportedly preparing to hold the 2025 Draft later than usual, moving away from its long-standing tradition of hosting the event shortly after WrestleMania.
Instead of the spring timeframe fans have come to expect, current plans call for the WWE Draft to take place in September, according to a new report from Bodyslam.net. The shift is said to be tied to the season premiere episodes of RAW and SmackDown, which typically air around that time each year.
“The last I heard about the WWE Draft was that they have been considering doing it post-SummerSlam, most likely as a tie-in to the season premiere episodes in September,” the report states. “With the recent call-ups, there hasn’t been a real reason to now reshuffle the rosters as storylines are still ongoing, so whether this means post-SummerSlam PLE or post-Clash in Paris PLE is yet to be determined. But in time for season premiere episodes? I would confidently say yes.”
This approach would continue WWE’s current trend of experimentation with its roster movement strategy. Rather than a formal Draft earlier this year, WWE introduced a “transfer window” in late 2024 that allowed talent to jump between brands. This led to cross-brand appearances from high-profile names such as Logan Paul and The Wyatt Sicks, as well as NXT call-ups including Roxanne Perez, Stephanie Vaquer, and Giulia.
The last few years have seen WWE adjust the Draft schedule occasionally. While most editions have occurred in the first half of the year, exceptions include 2019, 2020, and 2021, when the Draft took place in October. The 2016 Draft was also held in July.
With WWE’s rosters still heavily interwoven across RAW, SmackDown, and NXT, the fall Draft could provide a clearer structure heading into the final stretch of 2025.
