Viewership Numbers for AEW Summer Blockbuster Special – The June 11 edition of AEW Dynamite experienced a dip in viewership as the show went head-to-head with Game 3 of the NBA Finals, which aired in the same time slot.
According to Wrestlenomics, the first two hours of AEW’s Summer Blockbuster special brought in 597,000 viewers, down from the 655,000 who watched last week’s episode. In the key 18–49 demographic, Dynamite scored a 0.17 rating, a slight drop from last week’s 0.18. The NBA Finals on ABC likely contributed to the decline, as it continues to be a dominant force in Wednesday night ratings.
Despite the decline for Dynamite, the second half of the four-hour special—which aired as AEW Collision—saw a modest increase in total viewers. Collision averaged 397,000 viewers, up from 380,000 the previous week. However, its 18–49 demo rating fell slightly to 0.09, compared to last week’s 0.10.
The Summer Blockbuster branding, designed to give both shows a special-event feel, comes as AEW continues to push longer programming blocks amid a crowded sports TV landscape. With the NBA Finals continuing and major wrestling events on the horizon, AEW faces tough competition for summer viewership.
While Collision managed to build slightly on its overall audience, the continued decline in the key demographic for both shows remains something AEW will need to monitor closely.
For comparison, this week’s numbers mark Dynamite’s lowest 18–49 rating since late April.
