WWE Cancels Upcoming NXT on The CW Taping in Tampa – WWE has officially canceled its planned NXT Live taping on The CW, which was originally scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida. The event was set to be part of WWE’s major Memorial Day weekend schedule, which also includes a Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24, the NXT Battleground Premium Live Event on May 25, and a special Memorial Day episode of RAW on May 26—all from the same venue.
Approximately 1,700 tickets had already been distributed or sold for the NXT taping before WWE abruptly pulled the plug. No official reason has been given by the company regarding the cancellation. Internally, the move has raised eyebrows given the momentum of WWE’s NXT brand and the significance of The CW broadcast platform.
What makes the cancellation even more surprising is that the rest of WWE’s Tampa shows are performing very well. Both Saturday Night’s Main Event and the Memorial Day RAW are reportedly close to sellouts, and NXT Battleground has already seen more than 6,000 tickets distributed. The weekend as a whole is positioned as a major showcase for WWE in Florida, with a full slate of televised programming, premium events, and fan engagement.
It remains unclear if WWE plans to reschedule the NXT taping or relocate it to another venue. Fans who had planned to attend the show will now have to settle for the rest of the stacked weekend card, which still promises plenty of action and star power.
