TNA Banning Excessive Blood and Blading in New Policy Shift – TNA Wrestling has reportedly implemented a major policy change that limits the use of blood, particularly in cases of intentional blading, in an effort to prioritize performer safety and maintain appeal to advertisers and partners.
According to a new report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, TNA Wrestling has enacted a new internal policy banning excessive blood and the practice of blading during matches. This move reflects a shift in presentation as the promotion aims to safeguard talent health and remain aligned with standards expected by existing and potential broadcast and advertising partners.
The report clarifies that while blading and deliberate, heavy bloodletting will no longer be permitted, there is some leniency when it comes to unintentional or “hardway” blood. This includes scenarios such as a bloody nose or mouth that result from legitimate in-ring contact. The understanding, as relayed by internal sources, is that accidents do happen, but intentionally bloodying up matches will be a thing of the past.
This policy update may surprise some fans given TNA’s long history of high-intensity, hardcore bouts that often included blood. Notably, an upcoming TNA iMPACT! episode will feature a dog collar match between Steve Maclin and Eric Young that includes significant blood—likely taped prior to this new directive taking effect.
The move follows recent adjustments TNA has made to modernize its presentation and appeal to broader audiences, including its partnership with WWE that has seen NXT stars appear on TNA programming.
