Eric Bischoff Says Real American Freestyle Wrestling Is Close to Securing Major Streaming Deal – Real American Freestyle Wrestling, the ambitious new project led by Eric Bischoff, Hulk Hogan, and Israel “Izzy” Martinez, appears to be closing in on a significant streaming or broadcast deal ahead of its August 30 debut.
Appearing on The Ariel Helwani Show this week, the trio provided a status update on the promotion’s launch plans. Bischoff specifically revealed that discussions with two major platforms are underway, hinting that a final decision could come soon.
“Well, there’s two answers,” Bischoff told Helwani. “In the short term, as a matter of fact as soon as we’re done with this, I have a call with a major platform that everybody would know about and recognize. We may end up there, we may not. We’re going to end up on a platform on August 30th.”
While careful not to name the platforms involved, Bischoff was optimistic about the direction things are heading. He emphasized that discussions have been positive, though no official agreement has been finalized.
“We’re in discussions, I don’t even want to call them negotiations, we’ll be really straight forward with you on this. We’re in discussions with two different platforms, like I said, one in the next 45 minutes,” he continued. “I’m confident that we’re going to land a streaming opportunity, and it may be cable or broadcast, but time will tell.”
Bischoff also acknowledged the challenges of launching something entirely new and untested.
“The exciting thing about creating something new and something that nobody has ever done before is that, you know, if you’re successful it’s a major accomplishment,” he said. “The downside is, you’ve got to convince somebody, you’ve got to convince a network or platform that your vision is real and that we can execute on it and that we can build on it.”
He closed on a confident note, saying he believes it’s not a matter of if Real American Freestyle Wrestling will find a platform—but which platform they’ll land on and how the partnership will work.
