AEW President Tony Khan announced on Monday, May 12, via social media that Mina Shirakawa and AZM will complete the field for the four-way eliminator bout set for Dynamite on Tuesday, May 14, in Chicago. They join AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm, who is participating despite holding the title, and Skye Blue, who returned to action last week.
While Storm’s inclusion in the match adds another layer of unpredictability, the winner of this contest will receive a future title shot, likely after Double or Nothing. Storm’s presence allows her to potentially choose her next challenger—or be eliminated early and watch from the sidelines as the field battles for supremacy.
Both Shirakawa and AZM are coming into the match with momentum. AZM recently captured the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship at NJPW Resurgence on May 10, defeating Mercedes Moné and Mina Shirakawa in a triple threat match. AZM secured the win by pinning Shirakawa, adding a personal edge to this upcoming contest. AEW fans previously saw strong performances from both Shirakawa and AZM in earlier crossover appearances.
This marks AZM’s first AEW match since her NJPW STRONG title victory, instantly raising the stakes and profile of Tuesday’s Beach Break special. Meanwhile, Skye Blue’s return to the ring after a short hiatus comes in front of her hometown crowd, giving her an emotional boost.
AEW Dynamite: Beach Break will also feature major matches beyond the women’s division:
