Matt Hardy Says Joe Hendry’s WWE Appearances Are Elevating the TNA Brand – Matt Hardy believes Joe Hendry’s appearances in WWE are doing wonders for the TNA brand, especially as Hendry prepares to defend the TNA World Championship against Trick Williams at WWE NXT Battleground.
Speaking on the latest episode of The Extreme Life with Matt Hardy podcast, the veteran tag team star applauded Hendry’s growing presence in WWE programming, highlighting how it raises TNA’s profile.
“I think Joe Hendry having a TNA championship match in NXT is going to be cool for the TNA brand in general,” Hardy said, noting the unique crossover between the two promotions.
Hardy also pointed to Hendry’s surprise appearance at WrestleMania, where the TNA World Champion had a brief moment opposite Randy Orton. While some critics questioned the significance of the match itself, Hardy saw it as a win for brand visibility.
“I think having him on WrestleMania was huge for the TNA brand in general,” Hardy explained. “The match was irrelevant at the end of the day. The only people that are worried about that are the die-hards, the sickos. You have the TNA World Champion against Randy Orton, a legit legend… Everybody was highlighted, everybody got their stuff in, and it’s helped TNA.”
Hardy also shared his observations on Hendry’s rising popularity among fans, recalling a recent meet and greet during TNA Rebellion where Hendry’s growing appeal was on full display.
“I can tell from the boom in business,” Hardy added. “I can tell because we were doing the meet and greets at Rebellion and after that, Joe Hendry was there much later in the night than he was previously… That helped his popularity. Him doing this NXT thing is only going to be beneficial for him as well.”
Hendry’s title defense at NXT Battleground marks another step in WWE and TNA’s ongoing collaboration, a rare inter-promotional effort that is already paying dividends in terms of exposure and fan interest.
