WWE Has New Plans on Vacant Women’s World Title – WWE is preparing to crown a new Women’s World Champion, but the title match will not be taking place at Clash in Paris.
Stephanie Vaquer had originally been scheduled to challenge Naomi at the August 31 Premium Live Event in France. However, that bout was scrapped after Naomi vacated the championship last week following the announcement of her pregnancy. On tonight’s RAW in Birmingham, WWE provided an update during a backstage segment involving Vaquer and General Manager Adam Pearce.
Pearce told Vaquer that although her Clash in Paris opportunity would not be happening, she would still receive her championship match against a new opponent. Pearce explained that he already has a challenger in mind and will finalize the details within the week, promising to reveal both Vaquer’s opponent and the date of the title bout on next week’s show.
Vaquer admitted she was disappointed about not competing in Paris but expressed understanding of the circumstances. She had secured her championship opportunity by winning a battle royal at last month’s WWE Evolution event.
One uncertainty still remains regarding IYO SKY. SKY had been scheduled to face Naomi for the Women’s World Championship on the August 11 episode of RAW before Naomi was pulled due to not being medically cleared. WWE has yet to confirm whether SKY will still receive a future title opportunity.
Naomi made her pregnancy announcement during last week’s RAW, revealing that she and Jimmy Uso are expecting a child. Despite stepping away, Naomi vowed to return to WWE as soon as possible and once again pursue the Women’s World Championship.
