Stephanie Vaquer Captures Women’s World Championship at WWE Wrestlepalooza

Stephanie Vaquer Captures Women’s World Championship at WWE Wrestlepalooza – Stephanie Vaquer achieved the biggest milestone of her WWE career at Wrestlepalooza in Indianapolis, defeating IYO SKY to claim the vacant WWE Women’s World Championship. The title had been left open after Naomi relinquished it last month due to her pregnancy.

Vaquer secured the victory with a spectacular Spiral Tap from the top rope, capping off a match built around SKY’s injured knee. Throughout the contest, Vaquer repeatedly targeted the knee with several dragon screw leg whips. SKY aggravated the injury when she missed a moonsault late in the match, crashing knee-first onto the mat before Vaquer connected with her finishing move for the pinfall.

Following the hard-fought battle, both competitors showed mutual respect, sharing a brief embrace in the ring. Vaquer then celebrated with her father, who traveled from Chile to witness his daughter’s championship triumph in person.

WWE selected Vaquer and SKY for this high-stakes showdown because both had earned title opportunities before Naomi’s unexpected withdrawal. Vaquer secured her shot by winning a battle royal at WWE Evolution earlier this summer. Prior to joining WWE in 2024, she was a standout in Mexico as the CMLL Women’s World Champion. Since arriving in WWE, Vaquer has already captured the NXT Women’s and NXT North American Championships before her recent call-up to the main roster.

During Wrestlepalooza, WWE also confirmed that Vaquer will face the WWE Women’s Champion at Crown Jewel: Perth on October 11. The bout will not be for either championship, but the winner will be crowned the 2025 Women’s Crown Jewel Champion. Tiffany Stratton, the reigning WWE Women’s Champion, is scheduled to defend her title against Nia Jax and Jade Cargill in a triple threat match on SmackDown this Friday.
