Backstage Reason Why Bron Breakker Was Kept Out of WWE RAW Battle Royal – The October 20 episode of RAW featured a major Battle Royal to determine CM Punk’s opponent for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1. Jey Uso ultimately secured the victory, setting up his match with Punk. However, one major name missing from the lineup was Bron Breakker — and his exclusion was not accidental.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE officials made a deliberate choice “not to have Adam Pearce allow Breakker or Bronson Reed in the Battle Royal,” though no storyline explanation was offered on television. The reasoning, per the report, ties directly to WWE’s long-term booking plans for Breakker and his eventual ascension to the top of the company.
The report elaborated, “Breakker is expected to end up as champion, but they have a plan of how and when to execute it.” WWE reportedly determined that November 1 was not the right time or setting for his planned World Heavyweight Championship victory. As Dave Meltzer noted, “it happening on an SNME show, which is a Peacock exclusive and likely won’t do big viewing numbers, was decided to not be the time or the place.”
WWE’s concern, according to Meltzer, was that if Breakker participated in the Battle Royal but wasn’t booked to win, his elimination could undermine his momentum. “So if Breakker wasn’t going to win, there was no reason to put him in and get eliminated,” the report stated. By keeping him out, WWE ensured he remained protected ahead of what’s described as a “planned and significant moment” later in the year.
Breakker appeared on RAW alongside Bronson Reed and Paul Heyman earlier in the night to address the attack on Seth Rollins that led to the title being vacated. However, he did not compete on the show following that segment. His absence from the Battle Royal appears to be part of a calculated effort by WWE to maintain his credibility as a top-tier threat ahead of his eventual championship push.
