Karrion Kross Reveals Why Scarlett Was Absent During His Main Roster Debut – Karrion Kross has opened up about the absence of his wife and on-screen valet, Scarlett, during his initial WWE main roster debut—citing her injury and a lack of clear direction from former WWE officials.
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Kross explained that Scarlett suffered an injury during the early days of the COVID-19 lockdowns, which directly impacted their ability to appear together as a duo.
“Someone who’s no longer with the company had asked her to get in the ring and move around on like a dark match when we were still in lockdowns… She got in the ring relatively quickly and wound up getting injured, and so she was in post recovery of that,” Kross said.
Beyond the injury, there was also confusion behind the scenes regarding WWE’s creative direction for the pair.
“But I was also told one minute that we were going to be together, and then I was told the next that we weren’t,” he continued. Kross admitted he was hesitant about performing solo. “I was entirely opposed… to going out there without her because, I don’t know, just out of human loyalty. We have an act together.”
Scarlett, however, understood the professional implications and supported Kross moving forward without her. “She’s just like, ‘This is for us. It’s for our household. I’ll catch up when I get the green light to come back,’” he shared.
Initially, Kross said they believed they would be reunited quickly, but plans changed yet again. “Then we were told we weren’t. That time was all very weird,” he said. Kross clarified that the decision-makers from that period are no longer with WWE. “Those people I was dealing with at the time, just to reiterate it, they’re not with the company anymore.”
Kross and Scarlett have since been paired consistently on WWE programming, reflecting their real-life and on-screen chemistry that fans had first come to know in NXT.
