Cody Rhodes Appears in New ‘The Naked Gun’ Trailer – WWE fans got their first look at Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes in the reboot of The Naked Gun, as Paramount Pictures unveiled the first trailer for the comedy set to release on August 1, 2025. While Rhodes’ appearance is brief, it’s a moment packed with slapstick charm that fits right in with the franchise’s legacy.
In the trailer, Liam Neeson stars as Frank Drebin Jr., son of the iconic detective originally portrayed by Leslie Nielsen. During a comedic barroom scene, Neeson’s character hurls a glass that smashes directly into the face of a bartender—played by none other than Cody Rhodes. The impact breaks Rhodes’ nose in a ridiculous, over-the-top moment emblematic of the Naked Gun brand of humor.
This confirms Rhodes’ earlier statements that his role in the film would be a small cameo rather than a leading part. Despite the limited screen time, the moment is a fun Easter egg for wrestling fans and adds to the growing trend of WWE Superstars making the leap to Hollywood.
Directed by Akiva Schaffer, the reboot also stars Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, and Kevin Durand. While Rhodes won’t be headlining the film, his presence alongside such a notable cast in a legacy comedy franchise is yet another sign of WWE’s expanding entertainment influence outside the ring.
The Naked Gun reboot hits theaters on August 1, 2025.
