Aleister Black Says WrestleMania Match With Randy Orton Was Considered – Aleister Black recently revealed that WWE considered him as a possible opponent for Randy Orton at WrestleMania 41. In an interview with Le10Sport, Black confirmed internal discussions took place about slotting him into Orton’s open challenge after Kevin Owens was pulled from the card due to injury.
While Joe Hendry ultimately stepped in as the surprise challenger, Black says he was in the conversation at one point.
“From what I’m told, there was a discussion about it,” Black said. “But for obvious reasons, it didn’t go any further because they had another plan. But the option was considered. It was one of those, ‘What if we do it? Well, maybe not. Okay.’ That’s all I heard.”
Black expressed appreciation that WWE even entertained the idea, calling it a missed but flattering opportunity.
“The fact that they even considered it is pretty cool,” he continued. “I would have jumped at the opportunity with open arms. Anytime I get to wrestle Randy, it’s a great experience — he’s Randy Orton. And to do it at WrestleMania? How could I say no? I’d be scared shitless, but I’d do it. It would be insane.”
Although the match didn’t happen on the grand stage, Black did return just days later on the SmackDown following WrestleMania 41. Since then, he’s been active on the blue brand and recently shared the ring with Orton in a Fatal Four-Way King of the Ring qualifying match that also included LA Knight and Carmelo Hayes. Orton won the bout.
The mention of a WrestleMania match between Black and Orton adds to speculation about WWE’s evolving plans during the injury-heavy lead-up to WrestleMania 41. It also highlights WWE’s interest in reintegrating Black into top-tier storylines following his return.
