WWE Releases Javier Bernal and Oro Mensah – The wave of WWE roster cuts that began earlier today appears to be still underway, with the confirmed releases of NXT talents Oro Mensah and Javier Bernal.
Oro Mensah made his departure public through a heartfelt message on X (formerly Twitter), reflecting on his journey to WWE. “15 years hard work and true sacrifice to make it to WWE. Always gave it my 110% and put my whole passion and body into the artform of pro-wrestling. Thank you for all the support! love y’all,” Mensah wrote.
Mensah signed with WWE in 2019 and was originally part of the NXT UK brand, competing as Oliver Carter. He later transitioned to NXT in the U.S. in September 2022, where he was repackaged as Oro Mensah and aligned with the Meta-Four faction. He is a former NXT UK Tag Team Champion and appeared on this week’s NXT episode as part of the segment where Meta-Four agreed to disband.
Javier Bernal also confirmed his WWE exit on May 2 via social media, stating: “Big Body may be gone, but the Big Body Believers live forever. Javi isn’t going anywhere. Free Agent in 30 days, and you can book me at thejavibooking@gmail.com. Stay tuned for more, and be your fucking self! 🤘🏽”
Bernal, who worked extensively across NXT and the now-defunct 205 Live, wrestled 105 matches during his WWE tenure. His final televised matches came on WWE EVOLVE, where he lost to Oro Mensah and Riley Osborne—both of whom have now also been released. Bernal had returned from a broken foot injury in January 2025.
Both Bernal and Mensah add to the growing list of talent cuts that includes Braun Strowman, Shayna Baszler, Dakota Kai, Gigi Dolin, Eddy Thorpe, and many other.
WWE has yet to issue an official public statement regarding this latest round of cuts. More names may be confirmed in the coming days as the situation remains fluid.
