Hammerstone Opens Up About MLW Exit and Reconciliation with Court Bauer – Hammerstone recently discussed his departure from Major League Wrestling (MLW) and the subsequent reconciliation with MLW CEO Court Bauer in an interview with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp.
“It’s no secret that on my exit from the company, we went through a bit of turmoil,” Hammerstone admitted. “It was extremely frustrating because I did feel that me and Court had built a certain level of relationship, and I felt like it was falling apart. So not only was it, ‘Oh, you’re leaving your job,’ but for someone who’s almost become something of a father figure and a mentor in my life, I was [thinking], he’s gone too.”
Before finalizing his departure, Hammerstone and Bauer had the opportunity to address their issues directly. “We were able to work out that exit,” Hammerstone explained. “On the last shows there, we sat down and we had some serious moments together and aired our grievances. We got a chance to apologize for where we went wrong because no situation comes like that without both people making some mistakes… and I’m not ignorant to the fact that I made some.”
Even after Hammerstone left MLW and was sidelined with an injury, Bauer maintained contact. “Then over the next year when I was away from the company, to have him go out of his way to maintain a relationship was awesome,” Hammerstone shared. “When I was out with the injury… Court was checking in just seeing how I was doing and making sure I was in a good head space. It was really cool to rebuild that relationship.”
This renewed connection made his recent return to MLW an easy decision. “So when the opportunity came of, ‘Hey, would you be interested in doing some work together again? We would love to have you back.’ It was a no-brainer,” Hammerstone concluded.
During the same interview, Hammerstone also discussed the possibility of a match with Bobby Lashley, as well as a potential return to Japan.
