Hammerstone Reflects on TNA Departure and Creative Frustrations

Hammerstone Reflects on TNA Departure and Creative Frustrations – Former TNA Wrestling star Hammerstone has opened up about his departure from the company following the expiration of his contract in March 2025. After joining TNA at Hard To Kill 2024 and signing a full-time deal shortly thereafter, Hammerstone’s run in the company was marked by sporadic appearances, a feud with Steve Maclin, and a notable showing in the Ultimate X match at TNA Emergence. Despite these appearances, Hammerstone now admits that he felt creatively sidelined during his time in the promotion.

Speaking to Zach Heydorn of Sports Illustrated’s The Takedown, Hammerstone expressed frustration over what he saw as a lack of communication and direction from TNA management.

“At a certain point, perception is reality. So I’m sitting there and from my perception, I felt like the company stopped caring about me and maybe I needed to do something in a different way. Maybe they were looking for something that I wasn’t giving them. But also that was never a conversation that was had. I’d be very happy to be sat down and told, ‘hey, creatively, this is what we want to do. So we need to see more of this out of you.’ And I never got that,” Hammerstone said.

One source of disillusionment for Hammerstone came when his well-received match against Josh Alexander at Hard To Kill wasn’t even listed as an option in the TNA 2024 Match of the Year fan poll.

“I don’t care if I lose the poll. Just put me on the poll,” he added. “So it got to a point where I felt like there was a loss of faith in me… I could be way off here, and I’m not blaming anybody except myself, but once you start to perceive things like that, that becomes reality.”

Despite the frustrations, Hammerstone clarified he never gave up but admitted that mentally, he felt worn down and creatively unsupported.

Following his TNA exit, Hammerstone has returned to Major League Wrestling (MLW), making his comeback at MLW Battle Riot VII.
