Asuka Teases Damage CTRL Reunion Amid Imminent WWE Return – WWE star Asuka may be nearing a return to television, and her latest social media activity has fans buzzing about a possible Damage CTRL reunion. “The Empress of Tomorrow,” who has been sidelined since May 2024 with a knee injury, took to Instagram ahead of the May 16 episode of WWE SmackDown to share a photo with her Damage CTRL stablemates IYO SKY and Kairi Sane.
The post immediately sparked speculation about the trio reuniting on WWE programming, especially with Kairi Sane also absent from WWE television since December 2024 and also in line for imminent return. While no official announcement has been made, the timing of the photo and the recent developments around the group have fans hopeful.
Notably, the reunion chatter follows the release of Dakota Kai, a key member of the faction, earlier this month. With Kai no longer on the roster, a regrouping of the original Japanese core of Damage CTRL — Asuka, IYO SKY, and Kairi Sane — appears to be a logical next move if creative decides to revive the group.
Asuka’s knee injury kept her out of action for nearly a full year, and while WWE had considered involving her in plans for WrestleMania 41, her recovery timeline forced the company to delay her return. However, backstage reports had confirmed that WWE remained committed to long-term creative plans for Asuka, particularly in the SmackDown women’s division.
According to recent updates, Asuka’s rehab is nearing completion, and she is expected to be medically cleared any day now. Her return is currently targeted for sometime in May 2025, aligning with the timing of the Instagram tease.
If Damage CTRL does reunite, the trio could quickly reassert themselves in the women’s division, especially with IYO SKY currently holding the WWE Women’s World Championship.
Fans will be watching closely in the coming weeks to see if this tease becomes a full-fledged return on WWE television.
