5/2 WWE SmackDown Viewership Drops Against NBA Playoffs – The May 2 edition of WWE SmackDown experienced a sharp decline in viewership and ratings, drawing 1.406 million total viewers, according to Programming Insider. This marks a significant drop from the 1.599 million viewers who tuned in the previous week.
In the 18-49 key demographic, the show earned a 0.37 rating—down from the 0.51 rating recorded on April 11. This drop coincided with direct competition from the high-profile NBA Playoffs game between the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors, which aired on ESPN and attracted 4.6 million viewers alongside a dominant 1.40 rating in the same demographic.
Despite the ratings dip, several SmackDown segments performed well online, especially on YouTube. The most-watched video from the May 2 episode was the full tag team match featuring Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill vs. Nia Jax and Naomi, which garnered 563,000 views. Also gaining traction was Randy Orton’s explosive promo targeting John Cena, with 557,000 views.
