We start off wit a look back at last week’s episode of Smackdown.
We are live from the WWE Thunderdome at the Amway Center in Orlando, FL, as Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman make their way to the ring.
Paul says he has been authorized to enlighten you on some history. Two weeks ago, we let the secret out of the bag and told everyone what only the two of them know. Two days later, Roman Reigns wrecked everyone and he left as the Universal Champion. Last Friday, your tribal chief said to tell you everything. He laid all of his cards on the table and on that same night, his bloodline and family, Jey Uso stepped up. Not only did Jey emerge as the only benefactor of a Fatal Four Way, he dethroned a king, he braved a Brogue, and he solved a Riddle to become the number one contender for the Universal Championship. Paul says he has been given the opportunity to introduce that number one contender. He may be his cousin, but he should be his blood brother…Jey Uso.
Jey makes his way to the ring. He says Paul goes way back with his family so he has some love for him. Jey thanks Paul because he gets to compete against his blood for the Universal Championship.
Paul apologizes for interrupting. Paul says all of the appreciation should go to your cousin. This was Roman’s idea when Big E went down. Paul says he did what your tribal chief wanted.
Roman says Jey doesn’t have to thank him because they are blood. Years, we have thought about this. Roman says he is proud of Jey. The whole family is proud of you. You earned this and you are going to be in the main event. You are going to take a huge payday home. This is your moment. At Clash of Champions, it won’t be your moment. Like when we were kids, I am going to whoop your ass. This needs to stay on my shoulder for our family to be where it is. After I whoop your ass, it will all be love. Jey says they aren’t kids now.
King Corbin comes out and says this was a set up. You pulled some strings to get a hand picked opponent for your first title defense and he is your cousin. This is a classic case of nepotism and it makes him sick. Baron says he hates when someone walks around and abuses their power.
Sheamus interrupts and he interrupts his trip to go fishmongering to say that this stinks. Big E took an unfortunate spill when he showed him where his car was. IT should have been a Triple Threat match but then strings are pulled and it is a Fatal Four Way.
Jey asks if Sheamus is asking for time to prepare. Why not you prepare for a tag match with him and Big Cuz. It can be Blood versus Butt Mud. Sheamus is sent to the floor and Jey with a punch and he sends Corbin shoulder first into the ring post.
Roman leaves the ring without saying anything.
– Sami Zayn is in the truck and he is complaining about the graphic for the Intercontiental Title match and he wants it changed but he kills the power. We go to commercial.
AJ Styles versus Jeff Hardy for the Intercontinental Title
Sami Zayn interrupts the introduction and says this is not for the Intercontinental Championship because he won the title. He never lost the title. For personal reasons, I took a few months off and the WWE crowns a sham champion. I am back now. This is not a title match. This is an exhibition match and he wants it official.
Adam Pearce and security show up and he says that they are here to get Sami out of here. Sami agrees to leave but he says that everyone should be ashamed.
Styles attacks Hardy before the bell rings and he kicks Jeff in the back and the leg. Hardy with a kick and Twist of Fate once the bell rings. Hardy goes up top and misses a Swanton when Styles moves.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Styles sends Hardy to the floor. AJ kicks Hardy on the floor. Styles breaks the referee’s count and then goes back to the floor to kick Hardy again. Hardy pushes Styles off the steps and AJ hits the ring steps. Hardy with a leg lariat off the steps but both men hit the ringside barrier hard. Hardy with a clothesline and reverse atomic drop. AJ blocks the leg drop and pushes Hardy away. Hardy with a back elbow and Hardy hits Whisper in the Wind for a near fall.
Hardy with a kick but Styles avoids a Twist of Fate and hits an ushigoroshi for a near fall. Styles calls for the Styles Clash and Hardy blocks it and hits a double leg take down double leg drop and drop kick. Hardy with a splash for a near fall. Styles with elbows to the knee but Hardy with a mule kick.
Hardy misses a hesitation kick in the corner when Styles moves. AJ goes to the apron. Styles sets for the Phenomenal Forearm but Zayn pulls Styles off the apron and the referee calls for the bell.
Winner: AJ Styles
After the match, Zayn sends Styles into the ringside barrier and Zayn with a Helluva Kick on Hardy. Sami leaves with his title belt.
– We see Jey Uso in the back talking while Roman Reigns looks like he would rather be anywhere else.
– Jeff Hardy finally gets up after Sami Zayn’s attack. Hardy collapses on the ramp as we go to commercial.
– We are back with a look at Jeff Hardy collapsing before the commercial break.
Backstage:
Alyse Ashton is in the back and she says that it was dehydration that Jeff Hardy suffered from. AJ Styles shows up and says this has to stop. Jeff says he is the champ, but he cheated. Sami disappeared for months. Who is the true IC Champ? AJ says he can beat Sami Zayn and he can beat Jeff Hardy. He does not care when or how, but he will prove that AJ Styles is the true, one and only Intercontinental Champion.
– Michael Cole mentions the Brand to Brand Invitational and he mentions what Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura did on Raw. We take a look at what happened.
Backstage:
Cesaro and Nakamrua are in the Champions Lounge and Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins show up. Angelo says they were checking out the champions’ lounge. Cesaro says they have a match so they don’t have time for this nonsense. Angelo says you can have your match and we will make sure everything is okay in here. They can also scout their match for next week. Cesaro tells them not to break anything and then Nakamura tells them not to touch anything.
– Kalisto says watching LInce and Metalik displaying their lucha work over WWE made him proud but the tag titles were out of reach. As the leader of the Lucha House Party, the tag titles will be theirs soon.
– Jeff Hardy is in the medical office and Sami Zayn asks if it is more than fluids that Jeff Hardy needs. Jeff attacks Sami as we go to commercial.
Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Lucha House Party
Back from the break and out come SmackDown Tag Team Champions Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura for this non-title match. Metalik and Cesaro start off, going back and forth. Metalik mounts offense and tags in Kalisto for a big double team. Cesaro kicks out. Nakamura ends up providing a distraction from the apron, allowing Cesaro to land a big clothesline to Kalisto. Nakamura works over Kalisto and drops a big knee for a 2 count. Nakamura works over Kalisto in the corner and in comes Cesaro off the tag. Cesaro with a running uppercut in the corner for a 2 count.
Cesaro grounds Kalisto now. Kalisto looks to turn it around but Cesaro slams him and leg drops him for another 2 count. Nakamura comes back in and positions Kalisto over the top rope in the corner. Nakamura with a running high knee. Cesaro comes back in for a big double team move. Nakamura follows up with a cheap shot for a 2 count. We see RAW Tag Team Champions The Street Profits on the big screen now. They’re throwing a party in the Champion’s Lounge and it’s full of people. Cesaro and Nakamura aren’t happy.
Kalisto comes from behind and takes advantage of a distracted Cesaro, rolling him up for the pin to get the non-title win.
Winners: Lucha House Party
After the match, Cesaro and Nakamura are upset as Lucha House Party celebrates. Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins taunt them from the big screen.
– We see Bayley backstage walking with a steel chair in her hand. She looks to be all business tonight. She will be here next. Back to commercial.
– We are back and the party continues with more non champions in the Champions’ Lounge when Lucha House Party shows up.
In the Arena:
Smackdown Women’s Champion and Role Model to many, Bayley makes her way to the ring. Bayley wipes off the chair before she sits down to talk. She points to the TitanTron and we have a video package.
Bayley says after all that people are asking how is Sasha and when will she be back. No one is asking how is Bayley doing. Do you think she enjoyed doing that to her tag partner? Did she enjoy taking the chair to her best friend? Yes, she did and she enjoyed every second of it. Everyone wants answers. You want answers? I am full of questions now. Sasha, I know you are watching. Do you think I am some sort of idiot? After all of these years, do you think I didn’t know what was on your mind? You kept me close until you had that moment to strike. You needed me close. You followed me to Smackdown and when you saw me on the top of my game, you had to be Two Belts Banks.
You pretended to be my best friend and all along you were using me. Do you know how I knew? I was using you. I never cared about you and our friendship. I used you every step of the way. Thanks to you, I am the longest reigning Smackdown Women’s Champion. After last week, you are completely useless to me.
Nikki Cross makes her way to the ring for the Number One Contender Match and she walks past Bayley. As Nikki makes her way to the ring, Bayley hits Nikki in the back with the chair. Back to commercial.
#1 Contender’s Fatal 4 Way: Nikki Cross vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Tamina Snuka vs. Lacey Evans
We are back and Nikki says she is okay to go and the medical staff is going to let her wrestle. Lacey is out next and she throws her skirt at Nikki and Alexa and Nikki have to be separated. Tamina is already in the ring.
Tamina throws Nikki to the floor. Lacey with a drop toe hold to Alexa and she gets a near fall. Tamina kicks Alexa and then Tamina sends Lacey to the apron. Lacey grabs the hair and chokes Tamina while she wipes herself off with her special tissues. Lacey with a leg sweep but misses a slingshot stomp. Tamina with a head butt to Lacey but Alexa with a drop kick to Lacey and Tamina. Alexa with a punch to Lacey and a kick to Tamina. Alexa drop kicks Lacey.
Alexa with a knee drop but Tamina with a clothesline to Alexa. Tamina kicks Lacey and hits a suplex on Evans for a near fall. Alexa goes for a DDT but Tamina holds on to the ropes. Tamina with a boot to Bliss. Tamina with an Irish whip to Alexa followed by a splash into the corner. Lacey runs Tamina’s face across the topr oep. Lacey tries for a hesitation bronco buster but Tamina kicks Lacey. Tamina chokes Alexa and Nikki with a chin lock on Tamina. Nikki with forearms and a drop kick to the knees.
Nikki with a flying clothesline for a near fall. Nikki knocks Tamina off the apron and Nikki Irish whips Alexa for a baseball slide on Lacey and Tamina. Nikki with a cross body off the apron to Tamina and Lacey. Alexa gives Nikki Sister Abigail on the floor as we go to commercial.
We are back and Tamina with a reverse chin lock on Lacey. We see footage of Alexa Bliss looking skyward as she walks to the back during the commercial break. Tamina goes for a shoulder but Lacey moves and connects with knees and an elbow. Lacey drops Tamina’s neck on the top rope and then gives Tamina a leg sweep. Lacey with a slingshot elbow drop for a near fall. Tamina pulls Lacey off the turnbuckles. Lacey with a drop toe hold that sends Tamina into the turnbuckles. Lacey with a hesitation bronco buster. Lacey hits the double jump moonsault but Nikki breaks up the cover.
Nikki with a splash to Lacey and then to Tamina. She continues with splashes and hits a bulldog on Tamina and a clothesline on Lacey. Nikki gets a near fall on Lacey. Nikki with an Irish whip to Tamina but she misses a splash. Nikki with an elbow and she kicks Tamina and hits a tornado DDT. Nikki with a neck breaker to Lacey and Tamina breaks up the cover. Tamina sends Nikki into the corner and Tamina with a super kick to Lacey. Lacey with a Woman’s Right to Tamina and misses one on Nikki. Nikki with the hanging neck breaker but Tamina hits Nikki. Tamina gets Nikki up but Nikki escapes and gets the three count with a rollup.
Winner: Nikki Cross
– We see Baron Corbin and Sheamus talking in the back.
– We go back to the ring and out comes Heavy Machinery – Otis with Tucker. Otis is also carrying his Money In the Bank briefcase and the lunchbox. Back to commercial.
– We are back with the latest from the mysterious blonde.
Otis vs. John Morrison
Otis with a shoulder tackle. Otis with a back elbow. Morrison with a jaw breaker and kicks to the leg but Otis shimmies it off. Morrison with a forearm and Otis shakes the ropes. Otis blocks a kick and hits an overhead t-bone suplex followed by a slam. Otis sets for the caterpillar but Miz gets on the apron and it distracts Otis. Tucker backs Miz ofa and Morrison avoids a splash into the corner. Morrison pitches the lunchbox to Miz and Miz goes to the endzone. Otis with a splash and then he hits the caterpillar and elbow drop. Otis goes to the turnbuckles for the Vader Bomb and the three count.
Winner: Otis
– We see what Sheamus did to Big E last week. Michael Cole mentions that Xavier Woods will give an update on Big E’s condition on Talking Smack. We go to commercial.
Backstage:
We are back and Tucker tries to get Otis to hurry after Miz for the contract. Otis tells Tucker Miz might have a lunch box, but he doesn’t have THE LUNCH BOX.
Miz and Morrison hold the lunch box and Morrison reminds Miz of the statement that the contract was non-transferable. Miz says he talked to his lawyer and they can fix it. Miz opens the lunch box and there is an apple. Miz makes a call
– We go to the Firefly Funhouse.
Bray Wyatt has something to get off his chest first. He says thanks to Roman Reigns something special is missing from the Funhouse – the WWE Universal Title. He jokes about handling losses. He goes over to Huskus The Pig and says in this box is a new member of the Firefly Funhouse. This new member has overcome so much in his life to make it this far. Wyatt calls on the other puppets and friends to welcome the Persevering Parrot. Everyone claps and Wyatt tries to get him to fly out of the box or say something inspirational but we see nothing. Wyatt goes to let the parrot out of the box but something surprises him. We get a brief “technical difficulties” graphic. Wyatt has a problem. He says he probably should’ve cut some holes in the box. It appears the parrot is dead. Wyatt tosses the box and says, “Oh well!”
The Evil Mr. McMahon puppet appears and starts yelling at Wyatt for losing the title and control of the Funhouse. He threatens to fire Wyatt if he can’t keep the Funhouse together. The Evil Boss puppet then introduces the new Special Advisor for the Funhouse – Wobbly Walrus. He introduces himself and Wyatt isn’t thrilled – Yowie Wowie! The McMahon puppet says this is such good stuff, pal. The Walrus, which could be inspired by Paul Heyman, says, “My name is Wobbly Walrus!” That’s it for the segment. To be continued.
– We go to the ring for tonight’s main event as King Baron Corbin is out first. Sheamus is out next as we go back to commercial.
King Baron Corbin and Sheamus vs. Roman Reigns and Jey Uso
Back from the break and out comes Jey Uso first for his team. Jey is attacked at ringside and here we go with no sign of WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns or Paul Heyman. Uso and Corbin go at it early on. Still no sign of Reigns. Corbin catches Reigns with a Deep Six for a close 2 count in the middle of the ring. Sheamus ends up unloading with the forearms from the apron on Jey. Sheamus keeps control and slams Jey again. Corbin comes back in and Uso gets double teamed some now.
Uso fights back with kicks. Corbin blocks a Samoan Drop but Jey keeps fighting. Jey finally hits the Samoan Drop to Corbin in the middle of the ring. Jey misses the Rikishi splash in the corner as Corbin moves. Sheamus tags back in and hits White Noise on Jey for a 2 count. Sheamus yells at Jey and mocks him while he’s down. Sheamus readies for the Brogue Kick but Reigns’ music hits for the distraction. Reigns comes marching out with Heyman. Jey avoids the Brogue Kick and hits the enziguri on Sheamus. Jey rocks Sheamus again and then leaps out, sending Corbin over the announce table into Graves’ lap.
Jey goes on and comes off the top but Sheamus catches him. They tangle some and Uso ends up superkicking him. Jey goes to the top for the big Splash but he’s not legal as Reigns tagged himself in. Jey doesn’t realize it at first. Reigns stands tall in the corner, staring at Jey until he realizes the tag was made. Reigns waits for Sheamus to get up now, then nails the Spear for the pin to win.
Winners: Roman Reigns and Jey Uso
After the match, Reigns stands tall as his music hits. Jey rolls to the floor to recover. Reigns exits the ring, makes a quick stop to look at his cousin, then marches up the ramp. We go to replays. Heyman meets Reigns on the stage and hands him the title. Jey stands next to Reigns on the stage and raises his arm, which is holding the title. Reigns looks at the title and then at Jey, staring him down as SmackDown goes off the air.
