Swerve Strickland Captures AEW World Title at AEW Dynasty – In a monumental moment at AEW Dynasty, Swerve Strickland etched his name in the annals of wrestling history by defeating Samoa Joe to become the new AEW World Champion.

The climactic finish saw Swerve execute his signature Swerve Stomp to secure the victory. The match itself was a back-and-forth spectacle, with both competitors delivering powerful maneuvers and showcasing their resilience. Samoa Joe notably kicked out of Swerve’s House Call, while Swerve himself endured the devastating Muscle Buster from Joe.

As the final bell tolled, confetti showered the arena, marking the beginning of Swerve’s championship celebration. This victory not only signifies Swerve’s first reign as AEW World Champion but also makes him the first African American to hold the prestigious title.

Samoa Joe’s reign as AEW World Champion spanned 114 days, commencing after his victory over MJF at AEW Worlds End. Throughout his tenure, Joe successfully defended the title on three occasions, leaving an indelible mark on the AEW landscape.

The bell rings and the two lock up. Strickland looks to fly off the top rope, but Joe moves out of the way and lands on the outside. Strickland looks to fly with a tope suicida, but Joe sees him coming and sends him crashing into the announce desk spine first. He then delivers a chop to him that sends him over the announce desk, then dumps him back into the ringside area and exposes the concrete. Strickland then goes flying to level Joe, then looks to fly off the apron. Joe catches him and sets up for a Muscle Buster, but Strickland escapes and charges at Joe. Joe sends him crashing into the exposed concrete with a powerslam, then gets him back inside the ring.

Strickland and Joe go back and forth in the ring before Joe fires off kicks on Strickland. He then connects with a series of chops. Strickland lands a boot, but Joe levels him and sends him crashing out of the ring. The pair then brawl on the outside before Strickland delivers a kick to Joe’s shoulder back inside the ring and levels him.

Joe looks to lock in the Coquina Clutch, but Strickland avoids it and teeters on the top rope with Joe. Strickland flies off the middle rope and sends Joe crashing into the mat face first, then looks to lock in an Arm Bar. Joe prevents him from doing so, but Strickland transitions into a Triangle. Joe counters into a modified Buckle Bomb and follows it up with a Muscle Buster, then goes for a pin. Strickland kicks out, and delivers a 450 Splash to Joe as Joe is draped through the middle rope. He climbs back up to the top and delivers the Swerve Stomp, then goes for a pin but Joe kicks out.

Joe rakes Strickland’s eye, then grabs the AEW World Championship. Strickland grabs it, but Joe avoids getting hit and locks in the Coquina Clutch. Strickland makes it up to his feet and stomps on Joe’s arm as he wrenches back on the other, then spots the AEW World Championship still in the ring. He connects with the House Call and goes for a pin, but Joe kicks out.

Joe and Strickland teeter on the top rope before Strickland looks for a double stomp. He overshoots it, but pulls Joe down with a powerbomb. He climbs back up to the top and delivers the Swerve Stomp for the win.
