4/26 WWE SmackDown Results – Draft Night 1 – We shoot inside the Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati, OH. where Corey Graves and Wade Barrett welcome us to the show. We see a look at the podium set up on the entrance stage for the 2024 WWE Draft and then the rules for this year’s draft flash on the screen as Graves and Barrett talk us through them.
Backstage:
Backstage, Kayla Braxton is standing by with Paul Heyman. Paul says there are no rumors about Roman Reigns. These are facts. Paul says Roman has withdrawn from eligibility for the event. He says this is a positive. Who build Smackdown since the pandemic? Roman Reigns. Who is the biggest star? Roman Reigns. Roman says the pressure is on Nick Aldis because if he is not the first draft pick, who is? Paul says he is intrigued.
NXT:
We go to Jackie Redmond in Orlando wiht the NXT roster. She says this is the culmination of a lifetime of hard work, a little bit of luck, and self belief. She mentions Grayson Waller last year. She asks who’s next.
– We take a look at who is eligible for tonight from Raw and Smackdown.
In the Arena:
Corey Graves is in the rign with two tables. Corey welcomes everyone to Smackdown and he says he will be moderating the contract signing.
Corey brings out AJ Styles. Corey brings out the WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes.
AJ reviews the contract and he says before he signs it, AJ says he doesn’t know what we have here. Two Georgia boys are ready to mix it up for the first time for the biggest prize in the game. AJ says he understands why you boo him, but he doesn’t respect LA Knight and he got under his skin. AJ says that is why he lost at Wrestlemania. What happened? He got his composure back and he remembered that he was Phenomenal. Then he beat LA Knight to face Cody at Backlash. AJ says they haven’t met yet, but they have gone down the same roads and prove themselves outside of WWE.
AJ says the same man who gave him advice a long time ago is the same man who told Cody to stand on their own two feet and do what needs to be done. That man was Dusty Rhodes. AJ tells Cody he learned a lot from his dad and he was a good man. He taught him how to carry himself and the weight of a champion. AJ says he looks at this and the weight of this isn’t just of leather and gold. At Backlash, we will see if Cody can carry it.
AJ signs the contract.
Corey gives Cody the contract and Cody takes the mic before signing it.
Cody asks the people of Cincinnati what do they want to talk about. Cody says they can talk about respect. There is not a locker room where you won’t find people who respect AJ. Cody says there is mutual respect, but that goes by the wayside at Backlash. You have been here before and you are implying that he cannot carry the weight of that championship. Cody says it is a good thing the man who trained him said it wasn’t about winning the title, it is about keeping it. Cody says he respects AJ’s familiarity with his name. When he puts C-O-D-Y on it, they have never met before and it is a level playing ground. No matter how phenomenal AJ is, this isn’t a dream match, it is a must win.
Cody signs the contract and he offers his hand to AJ. AJ says it was a beautiful thing to see Cody finish his story. AJ says it is a shame his title reign will end at Backlash. AJ shakes Cody’s hand.
Triple H’s music plays and he comes out and shakes Cody’s hand before he goes behind the official WWE 2024 Roster Reallocation Podium and he asks Cody to join him.
Paul says it is as much about protecting their roster as getting the roster they want. They have as much a chance of gaining one as they do losing one of their own. Paul asks Cody to read off the Smackdown picks.
- The first pick going to Smackdown is Bianca Belair.
- The first pick going to Raw is Jey Uso.
- The second pick going to Smackdown is Carmelo Hayes.
- The second pick going to Raw is Seth Rollins.
Carmelo Hayes makes his way out and he has something to say.
He says when they talk about who’s next up and who’s the hottest out, they call him Carmelo Hayes. Hayes tells Cody ever since he won the title, if you come for the king, you best not miss. Hayes says when he shoots, he doesn’t miss. As a first round draft pick, he can’t think of a better way to shoot his shot on Smackdown than to shoot it against Cody.
Cody says fortune favors the bold and Cody asks the people if they want to see him wrestle tonight. Cody says what if he forgot his gear. Cody says he didn’t forget his gear, and he says this means that Hayes is on.

Rey Mysterio & Dragon Lee vs Angel & Berto
Humberto with a clothesline to Lee and he chops Lee. Lee with a head scissors take down and Humberto goes to the floor and Lee with a flip dive. Lee goes up top and he hits a cross body for a enar fall. Lee with a front face lock. Humberto with a wrist lock and forearm. Humberto with a waist lock and Lee with elbows. Angle tags in and he pulls the ropes open and Lee falls to the floor.

We are bac and Angel and Rey tag in and Rey with a head scissors take down and he is sent to the apron. Rey with a forearm and he goes up top and hits a seated splash and a kick. Rey with a Code Red for a near fall. Humberto goes for a power bomb but Rey sends Humberto over the top rope to the floor. Angel with a kick and Rey escapes Angel. Angel sets for a butterfly back breaker but Rey counters and sends Angel into the ropes and Rey with a 619. Lee tags in and he hits Project Dragon for the three count.
Winners: Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee
After the match, Santos Escobar and Elektra Lopez come out. Santos says he is many things, but not a liar. He says when he said he did not attack Dragon Lee before Wrestlemania, he meant it. Elektra has been looking for the security footage and he says what Rey is going to see will be very very interesting.
We see Carlito attacking Dragon Lee.
Carlito grabs Lee and pushes him into Rey and then he hits a lungblower. Carlito gets out of the ring and heads into the crowd.

Bron Breakker vs. Cedric Alexander
The straps come down before the match. Cedric goes for a Neuralizer and Bron with a spear for the three count.
Winner: Bron Breakker
– We take a look at Tiffany Stratton.
Backstage:
We see Nick Aldis walking out of WAR ROOM and Tiffany Stratton stops Nick to see if he saw what she did. She asks where is her title match. Nick says someone convinced her not to send her to the back of the line. Tiffany faces Naomi and the winner faces her. Tiffany wants to know who came up with that idea.
Bayley shows up and she says that if Naomi wins, she gets her title match but if Tiffany wins, she will see what happens when she faces Bayley. Tiffany tells Bayley she should watch the match from ringside.
We see Michelle McCool emerge from Smackdown WAR ROOM while Torrie Wilson emerges from Raw WAR ROOM.

In the Arena:
We are back with the next round of picks with Torrie Wilson and Michelle McCool.
- The third pick for Smackdown is Randy Orton.
- The third pick for Raw is Bron Breakker.
- The fourth pick for Smackdown is Nia Jax.
- The fourth pick for Raw is Liv Morgan.
– We cut to the Raw WAR ROOM where they celebrate like they just had a huge merger in Birdemic.
– Wade comments on how the Bloodline has not been selected.
– We have a video package for the Bloodline and what happened last week.
Backstage:
We see Paul Heyman watching a vehicle arrive at the arena. Solo Sikoa emerges after Paul opens his door. Solo wants to know where they were drafted and Paul says they haven’t been drafted. Solo says he wants the details. Paul says Roman took himself out of the draft pool. Paul says people don’t know what they are getting when they draft the Bloodline. Tama Tonga shows up and Paul is not happy. Solo asks Paul to repeat what he said.
Kevin Owens comes from behind and attacks Solo and Tama. Officials and referees have to pull Kevin away.

In the Arena:
Kayla Braxton is in the Okerlund Interview Area and she is with Bianca Belair. Kayla congratulates Bianca and she asks about her match at Backlash with Jade against Asuka and Kairi Sane. Bianca says she hopes Jade gets drafted to Smackdown on Monday. She mentions her history with Damage CTRL and Jade is the perfect person to help her finish things off. The final piece of breaking up Damage CTRL is the tag titles. When they lose the titles, there will be no reason for them to come back to Smackdown.
Asuka and Kairi Sane make their way out to confront Bianca while Kayla knows better than to stay in the middle of what could happen. They have some words until Jade Cargill comes out.
While they argue, Kevin Owens and Tama Tonga fight their way to the ring.
Tama gets in the ring and Kevin with a double leg take down. Solo attacks Kevin from behind and he punches him. Referees come out and Tama plays defense while Solo works over Kevin. Tama takes care of security and he punches Kevin until Randy Orton’s music plays and he makes his way to the ring.
Randy with a clothesline to Tama and punches to Solo. Solo avoids an RKO and Orton goes after Solo but he is held back. Kevin thanks Randy for helping him with a hug. They go to the aisle but are held back by security.
– Bubba Ray Dudley emerges from the Smackdown WAR ROOM.
– Devon Dudley emerges from the Raw WAR ROOM.

- The sixth pick for Smackdown is The Bloodline.
- The sixth pick for Raw is Sheamus.
Tiffany Stratton vs. Naomi in a Number One Contender Match
After some early back-and-forth action, we head to a mid-match commercial break. When we return, we see things pick up between Stratton and Naomi, with Tiffany dominating the action. Naomi hits a big drop kick and then a bull dog on Stratton to the turnbuckle in the corner.
Immediately after that, we hear some chaos breaking out at ringside, with Graves and Barrett reacting to something. The camera pans over to show Nia Jax has emerged through the crowd and is attacking WWE Women’s Champion Bayley. Naomi notices this from the ring and heads out to help out, but Nia levels her as well.
As soon as Nia makes contact with Naomi, the referee sees this and throws the match out. Although normally Naomi would win via DQ since she was attacked, but presumably this means no one wins and thus, no one is officially set for Bayley’s next challenger for the title at WWE Backlash: France. After Jax finishes up her attack, Stratton stacks Naomi on top of Bayley and hits her Prettiest Moonsault Ever.
No Contest
Backstage:
We see Montez Ford, Angelo Dawkins, and B Fab in the back with Byron Saxton. Byron mentions that they have a tag title match next week. B-Fab says it doesn’t matter where they get drafted because they are going to win the tag titles and they will return to Smackdown.
Austin Theory says you can’t have Smackdown without the greatest Tag team champions of all time. Waller shows Dawkins what a title looks like. Bobby Lashley shows up and Waller and Theory leave.
We go to commercial.
Backstage:
We are back with Karrion Kross and Scarlett outside and they pull a cameraman to show Akam and Rezar attacking Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne. Kross says the violence will continue until they get it.
JBL and Teddy Long make their way to PODIUM.
- The seventh pick for Smackdown is AJ Styles.
- The seventh pick for Raw is Alpha Academy.
- The eighth pick for Smackdown is Andrade.
- The eighth pick for Raw is Kiana James.
– We take a look at Kiana with a video package. She says in the corporate world and the ring, she is relentless. She knows her worth and clout.
– Kiana is with Jackie Redmond. She is asked how it means to be one of the two people from NXT to be drafted. She says that everything she has done was to get to this moment. She says she will prove she is the one percent. Shawn MIchaels comes up to Kiana and whispers something into Kiana’s ear like Slugworth asking for an Everlasting Gobstopper.

Backstage:
We are back and Kayla is with Nick Aldis. Kayla asks about Smackdown’s picks. Nick says the future is bright and he is looking forward to what is going to happen. Nick says he has some matches for Backlash. Nick says Bayley will defend the Women’s Title against Tiffany Stratton and Naomi.
Teddy Long announces the other match with Kevin Owens and Randy Orton taking on the Bloodline.
– We see who is eligible on Monday for the draft.
– Next week, we will have a face to face with AJ Styles and Cody Rhodes. Akam and Rezar will face Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne. The Street Profits will face Austin Theory and Grayson Waller for the tag titles. The RKO Show will debut next week.
Cody Rhodes vs. Carmelo Hayes
They lock up and Cody with a take down. Cody with a kick and drop down uppercut. Hayes with a kick and a springboard clothesline. Cody with a shoulder tackle.

We are back and Cody with a side head lock. Hayes with a head scissors and Cody escapes. Hayes with a chop and he pie faces Cody. Cody with forearms and Hayes with a back elbow. Hayes with a kick to the midsection. Hayes with chops and kicks. Hayes chokes Cody in the ropes. Cody misses a punch and Hayes with a chop. Cody with a chop. Cody with an Irish whip and a back body drop. Cody with a running forearm and he floats over but Hayes with La Mistica into a facebuster. Hayes with a springboard DDT for a near fall. Hayes with a front face lock. Cody gets Hayes on his shoulders but Hayes escapes and sets for a reverse DDT. Cody counters with an inside cradle for a near fall.
Cody with Beautiful Disaster for a near fall. Hayes with a head butt and Cody with forearms. They go back and forth and Cody gets Hayes on his shoulders again. Cody sets for a power slam and he hits a running power slam for a near fall. Cody sets for a Cody Cutter and he hits it but Hayes kicks out. Cody sets for a belly-to-back suplex but Hayes lands on his feet and he hits a Codebreaker. Hayes comes off the turnbuckles but misses and rolls through. Cody with a super kick and both come off the turnbuckles and miss but Cody lands awkwardly. Hayes takes too long and Cody with CrossRhodes for the three count.
Winner: Cody Rhodes
After the match, Cody kneels down next to a dejected Carmelo Hayes and offers him some words of encouragement. Hayes exits the ring and Cody continues his celebration in the corner. He hops off the ropes and turns around to see AJ Styles staring at him. The two have a tense face-off as fans break out into various chants in the background. Corey Graves promotes their showdown at WWE Backlash: France and night two of the WWE Draft on Monday’s Raw as this week’s show goes off the air. Thanks for joining us!
