WWE RAW Superstar Shakeup Results - April 16, 2018

We are live from the XL Center in Hartford, CT, as RAW General Manager Kurt Angle makes his way to the ring.

Kurt welcomes everyone to Raw and the Superstar Shake Up. He says we will see some new faces and some big surprises.

Sunil Singh comes out and interrupts Kurt. He introduces the newest member to RAW, Jinder Mahal.

Jinder hits the ring as fans boo. He congratulates Angle on signing The Modern Day Maharaja to RAW and securing it as the A Show. Jinder wants to know why he was brought to RAW in a SUV when he only travels in a limousine with motorcade. Angle officially welcomes Jinder and says they never agreed on a limo. Jinder rants about how he’s better than everyone else but Angle isn’t so sure. Fans chant “you suck” as Jinder demands the same treatment as Angle’s other champion, WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. The back & forth leads to Angle booking Jinder in a title match right now. The music hits and out comes Jeff Hardy to a big pop.

WWE United States Title Match: Jeff Hardy vs. Jinder Mahal

Jeff Hardy makes his way into the ring and we get the bell. Jinder goes right to work on Hardy. Jinder works Hardy over as fans chant for Hardy. Jeff turns it around in the corners. Hardy with punches and he sends Mahal into the turnbuckles and then hits a splash after an Irish whip. Hardy with a forearm to the back followed by a snap mare and drop kick to the back of the head. Mahal with a knee and elbow to the back of the neck. Mahal with a punch but Hardy with a kick and drop kick. Jeff with a baseball slide and then he hits a clothesline off the apron as we go to commercial.

We are back and Mahal with a half nelson and chin lock. We see Hardy being sent into the ring post during the commercial break. Hardy with a punch but Mahal with a knee to the back to get Hardy back to the mat. Hardy with a sit out jaw breaker to escape the hold. Mahal with a hot shot and then he connects with a series of knee drops. Mahal chokes Hardy and then he punches Hardy on the apron. Hardy with shoulders and then he drops Mahal on the top rope. Hardy goes to the turnbuckles but Mahal crotches Hardy.

Hardy knocks Mahal off the turnbuckles and then hits Whisper in the Wind. Singh gets on the apron and Hardy with a drop kick to knock him off the apron. Hardy with a running forearm and reverse atomic drop and leg drop to the midsection and drop kick. Jeff gets a near fall. Hardy with a kick and he tries for a Twist of Fate but Mahal pushes him away. Hardy with a forearm but Mahal with a Harley Race knee and Hardy grabs the ropes to stop the count.

Mahal sets for the Khallas but Hardy with a punch and then he gets a victory roll for a near fall. Mahal with a thrust kick for a near fall. Mahal with a double knee gutbuster but Hardy is able to get a near fall. Hardy with a Twist of Fate and then he goes up top and hits the Swanton for the three count.

Winner and NEW WWE United States Champion: Jeff Hardy

After the match, Jeff celebrates as we go to replays. We come back to Hardy celebrating with the title on the stage as his music hits.

Backstage:

We are back and Jinder Mahal is walking in the back and he is asked by Renee Young if this is not the start he wanted on Raw. Jinder says that he was not prepared and he is invoking his rematch in two weeks. He says if Kurt Angle does that again, he will feel his wrath. We hear No Way Jose’s music and he is conga-ing in the back. Jose tells Jinder to put a smile on his face. He says when life gets him down, he wants to fiesta. He asks Renee to join him and she does.

Bayley vs. Sasha Banks

Bayley has something to say before they lock up and Sasha does not appear to want to hear it. Sasha with a kick and Irish whip but she runs into an elbow. Bayley comes off the turnbuckles and slips but Sasha catches her and sends Bayley to the mat. Sasha with a chop and then she goes to the turnbuckles with a wrist lock but Bayley pulls her to the mat. Bayley sends Sasha to the floor. Bayley with a head scissors take down on the floor as we go to commercial.

We are back and Sasha with a Japanese Stranglehold. Bayley gets to her feet and she backs Sasha into the turnbuckles. Bayley with a snap mare. Sasha with an elbow but Bayley with a back body drop. Bayley sends Sasha to the apron and hits a cutter in teh ropes. Bayley with a running shoulder into the corner followed by a back elbow. Bayley kicks Sasha after going to the turnbuckles and hits a reverse tornado DDT for a near fall.

Sasha with a kick to the head and then she sends Bayley to the floor. Sasha with a knee to Bayley on the apron followed by a slingshot double knee drop. Sasha with Meteora for a near fall. Sasha pie faces Bayley and taunts her. Bayley pushes her away but Sasha with a slap. Bayley slaps back and they go back and forth until it turns into punches. The referee decides to let them keep going. Sasha with a kick and a running double knee strike. Sasha with the Banks Statement and Bayley tries to get to the ropes but the Riott Squad attack Sasha.

Winner: Sasha Banks (by disqualification)

After the match, Bayley and Banks are triple teamed by Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan and Ruby Riott. They continue to destroy Banks and Bayley for mostly boos. The Riott Squad stands tall as their music hits. They have now joined RAW.

– We are back and Heath Slater says that they are ready for the Authors of Pain. Rhyno says they are ready for a second chance.

Heath Slater and Rhyno vs. The Authors of Pain

Slater and Rhyno attack befrore the bell and they send Rezar to the floor and work over Akam.

The match starts and Slater with punches to Akam and Rhyno tags in. Rhyno with a forearm and Irish whip and shoulder in the corner. Slater tags in and he goes up top and hits a chop to the head. Akam with a hot shot and Rezar tags in. Rezar with a running shoulder tackle. Rezar with punches to the head and Akam tags back in. They pick up Slater and hit a double gutbuster for a near fall. Rezar tags in and he kicks Slater and picks Slater up. Slater escapes and he makes the tag.

Rhyno with punches but Rezar with an Irish whip. Rhyno with a back elbow and flying shoulder tackle. Rhyno with a punch to send Akam to the floor. Rhyno with a running shoulder in the corner followed by a belly-to-belly suplex for a near fall. Slater is sent over the top rope and then Rezar with a clothesline. Akam tags in and they hit The Last Chapter for the three count.

Winners: The Authors of Pain

After the match, Akam and Rezar stand tall as we go to replays and their music hits. Slater and Rhyno are still down as The Authors stand tall on the stage.

The MizTV:

Miz is in the ring with Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas and he welcomes everyone to MizTV. He says Jinder Mahal and the Riott Squad have shaken things up but his guests are a seismic shift on Raw. Miz brings out Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.

As they make their way to the ring, the announcers wonder how this is possible. We have a five man jumping hugging circle in the ring.

Miz says standing before you is the finest collection of talent ever assembled in one place. This is bigger and better than the nWo. Between them, they have more talent than the 1992 Olympic Dream Team. Infinity War may be hitting the theaters next week, but you have the WWE’s version of The Avengers. They do not have to deal with an egomaniac like Shane McMahon or a wannabe actor in Paige. They are calling the shots and they are in control.

Kurt Angle interrupts.

Kurt says Miz has no control over things. Kevin and Sami had their chance to get on Raw last week, but they lost. Kevin says there was an e-mail that was sent a few minutes ago. Things have changed. Sami tells Kurt he does not have to get out his phone and Sami reads the email, after putting on his glasses.

Kurt, in light of recent events and your proclivity to make emotional decisions but he has no other option than to re-examine what happened with Sami and Kevin. They both proved that they belong on Raw and to let them go would be a mistake of epic proportions. As a result, I am granting Sami and Kevin Raw contracts. Warmest regards, Stephanie McMahon.

Kevin asks if Sami is talking about Kurt’s boss and if that means that Kurt and Sami are back on Raw and there is nothing that Kurt can do about it? Sami and the others let out a huge YEP. Miz asks if Kurt’s whole career as Raw General Manager flashing before his eyes.

Kurt says he is surprised that Stephanie had time to write a letter because he figured that Stephanie would be in constant physical therapy. Kurt says that they can say goodbye to Miz because Daniel Bryan was adamant to get Miz on Smackdown.

Miz tells Kurt he cannot do that. Kurt says he can and he did. Miz says he just made Smackdown go from the B Show to THE SHOW. Miz says that him and the MizTourage will do on Smackdown what they did on RAW. Kurt tells Miz that Axel and Dallas are going nowhere. He is going to give Miz a going away present. They will face Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley, Braun Strowman, and a Superstar making his Raw debut. Kurt says they will miss Miz.

Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy appear on the screen and thye lets everyone know that they are here. Back to commercial.

– We are back and Sheamus and Cesaro are at the announce table to see who they face next Friday in Saudi Arabia.

Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy vs. The Revival in the Finals of the Tag Team Eliminator

Dawson and Hardy start things off and Hardy with a waist lock. Wilder with a tag and he punches Hardy. Wilder tries to send Hardy into the turnbuckles and he blocks it. Hardy with the delete turnbuckle shots and then he runs into an elbow. Matt with a hip toss. Wyatt tags in and he kicks Wilder in the head. Wyatt sets for Sister Abigail but Dawson distracts Bray. Wilder with kicks and then Wyatt falls to the mat and does the crab walk.

Hardy with a punch and Wyatt with a punch. Matt tags in and they hit a double back elbow and Wyatt with a back senton while Hardy hits a leg drop. Wyatt slams Dawson onto Wilder and Matt says it is WONDERFUL. Dawson with a tag and they hit a double clothesline. Dawson with kicks and elbow drops. Dawson with punches to the forehead. Dawson with a short arm clothesline and he gets a near fall. Dawson with a reverse chin lock. Matt with punches and a forearm. Wyatt comes into the ring and the referee sends him back into the corner. Dawson gets a near fall.

Wilder tags in and they hit a double head butt. Dawson tags back in and he kicks Hardy. Dawson with an Irish whip but he runs into an elbow and Matt with a Side Effect. Wilder and Wyatt tag in and Wyatt with clotheslines. Wyatt with punches and then he punches Dawson. Wyatt with a splash into the corner followed by a uranage. Wyatt goes to the turnbuckles and he leans back. Wyatt hits Sister Abigail on Dawson and Matt tags in and hits an elevated Twist of Fate for the three count.

Winners: Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt

After the match, we get a stare down with Sheamus and Cesaro on the announce table while Hardy and Wyatt are in the ring.

– Back from Backlash hype and the announcers plug the Superstar Shakeup. We will look at Ronda Rousey after the commercial break.

Backstage:

We are back and Sheamus and Cesaro walk in the back. Sheamus says they have never seen a weirder looking tag team than… They see Tyler Breeze and Fandango. Fandango says the Fashion Police have been transferred to a new precinct. They comment on Sheamus’ mohawks and their dresses. They give Sheamus and Cesaro some tickets.

– We take a look at the new faces from Raw last week and the newest members of the Raw roster thanks to the Superstar Shake Up.

Backstage:

We get a brief look at Ronda Rousey and Stephanie McMahon. Ronda is backstage with Kurt Angle now, talking about their WrestleMania 34 win. Angle says Stephanie won’t go away quietly and there’s no telling what he has planned for the Shakeup. There’s a knock on the door and in comes Natalya. She and Rousey hug and tell Angle that they trained together. Angle praises Natalya and says she campaigned hard to come to RAW. Natalya is excited to prove she’s the best there was, is and ever will be. Or maybe the second best now that Rousey is here. Natalya thanks them both and leaves all smiles.

Mickie James vs. Ember Moon

We go to the ring and out comes RAW Women’s Champion Nia Jax for commentary. Back to commercial.

They lock up and Ember with a wrist lock. Mickie tries for a reversal but Ember with a take down. Mickie with a head scissors and Ember escapes. Mickie with a forearm and kick. Ember lands on her feet on a hip toss and hits an arm drag. Ember misses a splash into the corner but she goes to the turnbuckles. Mickie pulls Ember off the turnbuckles and gets a near fall. Mickie with a Cobra Clutch.

Alexa is in the back and she says she was not told that she would be out there with that bully Nia. She says that Nia would rub things in her face like any bully would. Alexa says she refuses to give that bully the satisfaction.

Ember tries for a snap mare but Mickie holds on. Mickie with a knee to the midsection and elbow to Ember. Mickie gets a near fall. Mickie with knees to the back and Mickie with a reverse chin lock. Ember with an arm drag but Mickie with a neck breaker for a near fall. Mickie gets another near fall. Ember with a handstand head scissors but Mickie picks up Ember. Ember with a series of kicks followed by a punch. Mickie blocks a butterfly suplex but she misses a kick. Ember with a butterfly suplex followed by a handspring clothesline. Ember goes up top for Eclipse and hits it and gets the three count.

Winner: Ember Moon

Backstage:

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are talking in the locker room about their rocky start on Raw. Sami says they need to focus on Braun and take care of him early. Kevin asks about the mystery man. Kevin says they could be walking into a lion’s den. Kurt didn’t even give them time to prepare. If they wanted to deal with that, they could have stayed on Smackdown with Shane.

Miz asks Kevin and Sami about Shane and how Shane will treat him on Smackdown. Kevin and Sami tell Miz to focus on tonight and then he asks about Bo and Curtis. Miz says they need to forget about what is in front of them and focus on the fact that this is his Raw finale. It needs to be must see. We go to commercial.

In the Arena:

We are back and Dolph Ziggler makes his way to the ring.

Dolph says he is back on Raw. A lot of things changed and a lot of things stayed the same. He will always steal the show and he is the best superstar to walk that aisle. Dolph is interrupted by Titus O’Neil’s music and he is joined by Apollo Crews and Dana Brooke. Titus welcomes Dolph to Raw and he says a lot of things have changed. That includes the creation of Titus Worldwide. If you are looking to maximize your return, look no further than their team. He can take Dolph to the next level in and out of the ring. Titus says that Dolph is a multi-platform superstar. They can rule the planet.

Dolph says what he was going to say is that he did not come back to RAW alone… Drew McIntyre shows up and he attacks Titus and Apollo. Drew and Dolph send Titus into the ring post. Dolph with a super kick to Titus and then Drew punches Apollo. Drew hits a Claymore while Dolph hits a Zig Zag. We go to commercial.

In the Arena:

We are back and Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring as boos welcome him in the arena.

Roman looks around and he says he is here but Brock Lesnar isn’t. Once again, he is going to face Brock Lesnar. It is not going down like it was at Wrestlemania because they are going to be in a steel cage. He will leave Brock in the cage and he will return to Raw as the Full Time Universal Champion. Since tonight is the Superstar Shake Up…

Samoa Joe interrupts and he makes his way to the stage.

Joe tells Roman you come out here and you are so quick to brag that you show up for work. Joe says you don’t brag about getting the job done. The fact is you haven’t got the job done and you never will. You talk about this cage match and you are going to become a champion. You are not getting in the ring with a normal superstar. You are getting in there with a beast who has beaten you every time you stepped into the ring with him.

Joe says he almost feels sorry for Roman but he does not know his place around here. You won’t learn until someone puts you down for good. Joe says he comes bearing that sweet mercy. When Brock is done with you in the cage, Joe will put the Big Dog to sleep once and for all. Since you have some bass in your voice, Joe wants to remind Roman of what Brock has done to him and what Joe will do to him.

Roman says that is everything that Brock has done, so why don’t you come down here to see what your lazy fat ass can do.

Joe makes his way to the ring but Joe stops at the bottom of the ramp and decides to go back up the ramp. Joe stops at the top of the ramp and he throws his towel down and goes to the ring, but Joe says he will see Roman at Backlash on his time. We go to commercial.

Mandy Rose vs. Natalya

They lock up and Natalya with a rollup for a near fall. Mandy with a slap and Natalya with a side head lock take down. Mandy with a head scissors. Natalya with forearms. They go to the floor and Natalya sends Mandy back into the ring. Mandy goes to the floor and she hits Natalya with a jumping knee. They return to the ring and Mandy gets a near fall. Mandy kicks Natalya in the corner. Mandy chokes Natalya in the corner. Mandy with a suplex for a near fall. Mandy with a forearm to the back and then Mandy with an abdominal stretch.

Natalya with a hip toss and slap to Mandy. Natalya tells Mandy not to touch her like that. Natalya misses a discus clothesline and Mandy goes for a jumping knee but Natalya blocks it and she applies the Sharpshooter and Mandy taps out.

Winner: Natalya

After the match, Natalya stands tall until Deville attacks from behind. Rose and Deville double team Natalya until the music hits and out comes Ronda Rousey to a pop. Rousey hits the ring as Absolution retreats to the floor. Deville enters the ring and taunts Rousey. Rousey with strikes and a clothesline to take Deville down. Rousey checks on Natalya as Rose and Deville talk trash from the stage. Rousey’s music hits as she leaves with Natalya and we get a reply.

– Cole leads us to a video package for the newest RAW roster member – Baron Corbin.

Breezango vs. The Bar

We go to the ring and out comes Tyler Breeze and Fandango. We go to commercial.

Fandango and Cesaro start things off and Fandango takes Cesaro’s jacket. Cesaro with a kick and European uppercut. Cesaro with a shoulder tackle. Cesaro goes for a sunset flip and Fandango stays on his feet and he does some dancing and hits a leg drop for a near fall. Breeze tags in and he punches Cesaro. Breeze avoids Sheamus but he cannot avoid the pop up European uppercut. Cesaro rips off Breeze’s shirt and tags in Sheamus. Sheamus with kicks and then Cesaro gets in a few shots. Breeze blocks a punch and connects with punches of his own but Sheamus runs Breeze into the corner. Cesaro tags in and they hit a double thrust kick for a near fall.

Cesaro with a reverse chin lock. Sheamus tags in and they hit a double clothesline. Sheamus with a knee to the back followed by a reverse chin lock. Breeze with a jaw breaker to get out of the hold but Sheamus with a clothesline and he knocks Fandango off the apron. Sheamus with a back breaker and Cesaro with an elbow drop for a near fall. Fandango pulls Sheamus off the apron and Breeze with a sunset flip for the three count.

Winners: Tyler Breeze and Fandango

Backstage:

Renee Young is in the back with Elias. Renee asks Elias why he has chosen not to play tonight. Elias tells Rachel after all of the huge venues he has performed in, he will not perform in small venues. This rinky dink town of Hartford does not matter. Elias says things have changed since Bobby Lashley was last here. Elias says that he is the biggest star in the WWE and Bobby does not belong in the same arena as him. Elias says that Bobby should be worshiping him in the crowd like everyone else. If Bobby interrupts him again, Bobby will know what WWE stands for. Elias says he won’t perform for the fans, but he says that Renee wants a private concert. Elias tells her to silence her cell phone… Renee says we don’t have time for a performance and she sends it back to Michael Cole.

Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, The Miz, Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas vs. Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, Bobby Lashley, Braun Strowman and Bobby Roode

We go to the ring and out first comes Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. The Miz is out next with Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas. Braun Strowman is out first for his team. Finn Balor is out next, followed by Bobby Lashley. WWE Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins is out next. Out last is the newest member of the RAW roster – Bobby Roode.

We get the bell as the two teams talk trash and try to figure out who will start. Rollins starts off with Owens. Owens strikes first and beats Rollins down. Rollins catches Owens running into the corner and sends him face-first into the turnbuckle. Owens gets sent out to the floor. Rollins leaps over the top and takes Owens down on the floor. Both teams face off with the babyfaces in the ring as we go back to commercial.

Rollins wants to start for his team while Owens waits for someone to start. Owens with a kick to the midsection followed by punches and kicks. Owens with more punches and a knee to the midsection. Owens with an Irish whip but Rollins with a flatline into the turnbuckles. Rollins with a clothesline and he sends Owens to the floor and Rollins with a pescado. We have five men in the ring and five on the floor as we go to commercial.

We are back and Axel with a side head lock on Rollins. Rollins with a drop kick and he tags in Roode. Roode with a kick and suplex for a near fall. Balor tags in and he goes up top and hits a double sledge to the arm. Axel with a punch and a sunset flip but Balor rolls through and hits a drop kick for a near fall. Strowman wants to tag in but Axel runs Balor into the corner and Owens tags in and he punches Balor. Dallas tags in and he kicks Balor. Dallas with punches and Miz tags in.

Miz kicks Balor and chokes him in the corner. Owens chokes Balor while the referee is out of position. Miz with a boot to Balor for a near fall. Miz with a reverse chin lock. Balor with punches but Miz with Reality Check for a near fall. Zayn tags in and he punches Balor in the midsection and then the head. Zayn misses a splash into the corner and Lashley tags in with a clothesline and overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Lashley with a clothesline into the corner followed by a shoulder. Lashley knocks Owens off the apron and that distraction allows Zayn to hit a clothesline. Lashley with a clothesline and then he sets for a delayed vertical suplex.

Lashley press slams Miz onto Axel and Dallas on the floor as we go to commercial.

We are back and Owens sends Rollins back into the ring and he connects with cross faces and applies a reverse chin lock. We see footage from the commercial break when Rollins was sent over the top rope to the floor. Owens keeps Rollins from making the tag and sends him to the mat and hits a back senton for a near fall. Owens pulls Rollins into his corner and Miz tags in and kicks Rollins in the midsection. Miz sends Rollins into the turnbuckles and kicks him. Rollins tries to fight out of the corner but Miz with a kick to the knee and a DDT for a near fall.

Miz sets for the It Kicks and Miz goes for a round kick but misses. Rollins with a rollup for a near fall. Rollins with a belly-to-back suplex and both men are down. Bo and Curtis pull Balor and Lashley off the apron. Strowman and Roode go after Axel and Dallas but Rollins was ready for the tag but no one was in the corner. Rollins with an enzuigiri and then Strowman goes to the floor to go after Owens and Zayn.

Roode and Axel tag in and Roode with clotheslines followed by an Irish whip and neck breaker. Roode goes up top and hits a clothesline. Roode sets for the Glorious DDT but Axel sends Roode into the corner. Roode with a boot and blockbuster for a near fall. Roode sends Bo to the floor. Axel clips Roode and Miz tags in and he sets for the Figure Four Leg Lock but Roode with an inside cradle for a near fall. Roode with a clothesline and Braun wants to be tagged in.

Strowman tags in and Miz goes to the floor and chases MIz around the ring. Strowman knocks Owens out of the way and then he punches Zayn. Miz with kicks and Strowman with a choke slam. Dallas comes in and he is sent into the turnbuckles. Axel is sent into the corner and Strowman misses a shoulder in the corner and hits the ring post. Balor with a forearm to Axel and Slingblade to Dallas. Rollins sends Axel to the floor and hits a suicide dive onto Axel. Roode with a Glorious DDT to Zayn. Owens with a super kick to Roode. Lashley with a spinebuster to Owens. Miz sends Lashley to the floor.

Miz with two running drop kicks into the corner. Strowman stops a third one with a drop kick of his own. Axel refuses the tag from Miz and goes to the floor. Dallas does the same. Miz says that he made them and then he turns around with a sad look on his face because he knows what is behind him. Strowman with a splash into the corner followed by a running power slam for the three count.

Winners: Bobby Roode, Bobby Lashley, Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, and Braun Strowman

After the match, the babyfaces stand tall as Braun’s music hits. We go to replays. We see The Miz down on the floor. The Miztourge watches from the stage. The winners stand tall together in the ring as RAW goes off the air.
