WWE SmackDown Results – August 21, 2026 – Welcome to WrestlingAttitude’s live coverage results of WWE SmackDown on August 21, from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada.

onight’s WWE SmackDown opened backstage with Sami Zayn complaining that it was an injustice CM Punk is defending the title in Toronto instead of him. He ran down everyone who was thrown into the SummerSlam match to name the new top contender. Sami reminded everyone he wrestled with a broken hand last week and still delivered, but Randy Orton got involved and now he doesn’t get his title match.

Sami kept running down Orton, not realizing Randy was standing right behind him. Orton told Sami he wanted to hear everything he had to say, but in the ring Cody Rhodes was already calling Orton out for a fight. Nick Aldis walked off as Sami protested. Orton glared at Sami and headed to the ring. Sami threw a fit backstage over not being heard.

Nick Aldis walked out trying to calm Cody Rhodes, but Randy Orton came down to the ring anyway. Orton said that at Sunday’s Night Main Event, he will beat Cody. Aldis told both men that if they touched each other tonight, they would never get another title shot. Orton said he wouldn’t get in the ring and risk losing his chance to become champion. He said Aldis had his word.

Orton told Cody he saw the footage from last week. Cody had the chair and was about to hit him. Orton said if Cody had swung that chair, he wouldn’t have been able to live with himself. But before WrestleMania, Orton swung that chair because he knows how to go there, how to get it done, how to be himself.

Orton said Cody is a good guy, always has been, always will be. The golden boy. The American Nightmare. Orton called him the American daydream. He said two weeks ago Cody asked who was going to kill the legend of Randy Orton. Cody didn’t answer because it won’t be Cody who kills him.

Cody said Orton is operating on a dangerous assumption. He said Orton shook his hand, called him a brother, and then hit him with a chair. And at WrestleMania, Orton kicked him in the skull. Cody said he has learned from his friends, his heroes, his enemies, and from Orton.

Cody told Orton to imagine he does become champion. Here’s what happens after: Orton still comes back to Cody. The one who kills the legend killer is QB1, and that’s not a prediction — it’s a spoiler. Cody dropped the mic and his music hit.

Tama Tonga, Tala Tonga & Haku Backstage

We cut to the back where Tama Tonga and Tala Tonga were standing together. Tama said it’s about their family now. Tala followed by saying the tag titles belong to them.

Haku stepped in and told them now they fight, now they show everyone who the mother‑f dog in here is.

WWE Tag Team Championship Match – Tama Tonga & Tala Tonga (c) vs. Damian Priest & R‑Truth

The bell rang and both teams started swinging right away. Tama Tonga and Damian Priest were the legal men. Tama threw right hands, but Priest fired back with his own. The War Raiders were shown watching backstage.

Priest hit a big boot and tagged in R‑Truth. They double‑teamed Tama. Tala Tonga rushed in but got tossed to the outside. Priest and Truth clotheslined Tama to the floor. Truth jumped over the top rope and crashed onto Tama, and Priest threw Tala into the barricade.

Truth rolled Tama back into the ring and hit a right hand. He grabbed Tama, but Tama threw Truth throat‑first onto the top rope. Tama followed with a clothesline and covered, but Truth kicked out. Tama hit more right hands and threw him to the outside. Tala tagged in.

Priest and Tala were in the ring as Priest climbed the top rope and hit a flying clothesline. He covered, but Tala kicked out. Priest tried to grab him, but Tala caught Priest instead and went for a chokeslam. Priest fought out with right hands. Priest hit the ropes, but Tala cut him down with a clothesline.

Tama tagged in, but Priest caught him with a kick to the side of the head. Truth tagged in and hit shoulder tackles. Truth dropped the You Can’t See Me and the five‑knuckle shuffle, then hit the AA. He covered, but Tala broke it up.

Priest cracked Tala with a right hand and clotheslined him to the outside. Priest followed and hit a double axe handle. He climbed onto the apron, but Tama threw him off. Tala grabbed Priest and chokeslammed him onto the apron.

Truth rolled Tama up for a close call, but Tama kicked out. Truth tried to grab him, but Tama hit a swinging neckbreaker. Tala tagged in and they hit the Red Cross high‑low. Tala covered and got the pin.

Winners: Still WWE Tag Team Champions, Tama Tonga and Tala Tonga

After the match, Priest got back into the ring and hugged R‑Truth, showing respect after the loss.

Priest & R‑Truth / CM Punk Backstage

We cut backstage where Cathy Kelley was with CM Punk. Punk said he thrives in pressure situations and hostile environments. He said Kevin Owens is fighting battles in his own head, while Punk has changed, evolved, and gotten better. But when Punk looks at Owens, he still sees the same guy from twenty years ago.

Randy Orton walked in. He told Punk that after he beats Cody in front of Cody’s family, he wanted Punk to know he’ll be coming for number fifteen. Orton walked off. Punk said he looks forward to it.

Chelsea Green, Tiffany Stratton, Paige & Fatal Influence

Chelsea Green was backstage with Tiffany Stratton, trying to smooth things over from last week. Chelsea said she’d make it up to her, but Tiffany cut her off. She told Chelsea she didn’t want her coming out tonight and risking her title reign.

Paige walked in and told Chelsea she should be proud of herself. Fatal Influence showed up right behind her and took a shot at Paige, saying Chelsea shouldn’t listen to people who can’t hold onto their titles. Paige fired back, saying she misses having gold around her waist and she plans on taking the United States Championship. Fatal Influence walked off.

Blake Monroe Backstage

We moved to Blake Monroe with Cathy Kelley. Blake said she sees herself as world‑title material and thinks she should be facing Chelsea instead of Giulia. She said the match belongs in Paris or Milan, not in a dump like Toronto. Blake said she still looks great, and even when she’s given nothing, she’ll make sure everyone ends up talking about her.

Blake Monroe vs. Giulia

Giulia was making her way down the ramp when Blake Monroe blindsided her from behind. Blake slammed Giulia into the ring steps and rolled her into the ring. Blake followed her inside and hit the Neutralizer, leaving Giulia laid out.

Blake’s music hit as she walked away without saying a word.

No Contest

We cut backstage where Charlotte Flair was with Alexa Bliss. They were talking about Alexa’s birthday plans when Tatum Paxley walked in. Flair asked Alexa what was going on. Jade Cargill arrived with B‑Fab and Michin. Jade said Flair needed this freak show to bail her out. Flair fired back, saying this freak show could handle B‑Fab and Michin on her own.

Michin challenged Tatum to a match next week, and Tatum accepted.

Trick Williams Confronts Baron Corbin

Trick Williams’ music hit and he came to the ring with Lil Yachty. Trick said he got Yachty back, but he still didn’t have his title. He said Corbin doesn’t want to face him one‑on‑one. Trick joked that since Corbin walks around backstage looking like a cue ball, he should come out and get cracked with a Trick Shot.

Corbin’s music hit and he rode out on a motorcycle. He stepped into the ring and Yachty slid out. Trick told Corbin he’s the one he’s looking for, the one he cheated out of the title. Trick told him to stop dodging and give the people what they want. Trick challenged him to a match tonight.

Corbin said the title was “getting a haircut” right now. He told Trick he wasn’t getting another shot. They had a title match — Trick lost. They had a rematch — Trick lost again. Corbin said Trick has nothing to offer him because he beat him every single time. He said it’s not happening tonight or anywhere. He told Trick to take Lil Yachty and leave.

Lil Yachty cracked Corbin with a kendo stick. Trick clotheslined Corbin to the outside. Corbin climbed onto the apron, but Yachty hit him again with the stick.

Corbin said if this is how Trick wants to do it, he’ll challenge him at Sunday Night’s Main Event. But first, he wants Lil Yachty in his hometown — five minutes in the ring. If Yachty survives, Trick gets his title shot. If Corbin beats him, they’re done. He told Yachty to put his money where his mouth is.

Yachty accepted. Corbin said it would be the longest five minutes of his life.

Kevin Owens, Finn Balor & Gunther Backstage

Cathy Kelley was backstage with Kevin Owens. Owens started talking when Finn Balor walked in. Finn said he was happy to see Owens back, but as his friend, Owens should have told him he was returning during Finn’s match. Before Owens could answer, Gunther stepped in.

Gunther told Owens there was a lot of pressure on him tonight. He said Owens could win the WWE Championship, and he could do it in front of his own people. Gunther said Owens didn’t need to worry about Finn because Finn is a shadow of who he used to be. Gunther said if he wins tonight, Owens will have to worry about him instead. Gunther walked away.

Owens asked Finn if Gunther was upset or if that was just his accent. Finn said Gunther was upset, but he has to focus on winning the title. And when he does, he’ll be waiting for Owens on the other side. Owens said he hopes Finn is, and Finn walked off.

Tiffany Stratton vs. Lash Legend

The bell rang and Tiffany opened fast with a dropkick. She hit the ropes, but Lash cut her down with a right hand. Lash followed with a body slam and covered, but Tiffany kicked out.

Lash locked in a bear hug and squeezed before throwing Tiffany toward the ropes. Lash swung for a clothesline, but Tiffany slipped past her and hit a backstabber. Lash dropped to the floor.

Tiffany went for a suicide dive, but Lash caught her in mid‑air and threw her straight into the ring post.

Lash hit a suplex and went for an elbow drop, but Tiffany rolled out of the way. Tiffany fired back with right hands and hit a stunner. She climbed the top rope and went for a swanton, but Lash moved and Tiffany crashed to the mat.

Lash swung for a big boot, but Tiffany dodged it and rolled her up for a count of two. Tiffany climbed the ropes again, but Lash shoved her down. Lash grabbed her and hit the Lash Extension. She covered and got the pin.

Winner: Lash Legend

Nia Jax entered the ring after the match and dropped a leg on Tiffany. Nia and Lash double‑teamed her until Chelsea Green’s music hit. Chelsea ran down with a kendo stick and cracked both Lash and Nia, sending them rolling out of the ring.

Shinsuke Nakamura & Hiromu Takahashi Backstage Promo

Shinsuke Nakamura cut a promo saying he already warned the MFT. He said they should have listened, because now the fight is coming straight to them.

Hiromu Takahashi suddenly appeared and made his WWE debut. He introduced himself as Kyoki, a name he said was earned fighting around the world. He said he has arrived in WWE to fight everyone, and the stronger they are, the more fun he will have.

Nakamura looked at him and said he doesn’t fear chaos — he enjoys it.

CM Punk (c) vs. Kevin Owens for the Undisputed WWE Championship

During Punk’s entrance, Owens shoved him and the referee jumped in to break it up.

The bell rang and Owens came out swinging with right hands and a clothesline. He knocked Punk to the floor. Owens followed, but Punk slid back into the ring. Owens climbed in after him and Punk fired off right hands. Punk tried for a suplex, but Owens blocked it. Owens lifted Punk and dropped him throat‑first onto the top rope.

Punk was on the apron when Owens cracked him with a right hand, sending Punk to the floor. Owens followed and hit chops across Punk’s chest. Owens threw Punk back into the ring and then cleared off the announce table.

Punk rolled back outside and shoved Owens into the ring. Punk put the announce table back together. He got into the ring, but Owens caught him with a right hand and hit a senton. Owens went for the Stunner, but Punk countered with a neckbreaker.

Punk stomped away at Owens and cracked him with Mongolian chops. Owens fired back with body shots, but the referee pulled him out of the corner. Punk reversed a hard whip and sent Owens crashing into the buckles, dropping him to the mat. Punk followed with a knee drop and shifted his attack to Owens’ neck, locking in a front guillotine.

Punk kept control for a while and played to the crowd, cupping his ear. Owens rolled him up for a count of two, but Punk popped up and smashed him with a clothesline that flipped Owens inside out. Punk stayed in charge as they came back from commercial.

Owens blocked Punk and drilled him with a heavy right hand. He blasted Punk with a clothesline and stomped him until Punk rolled to the floor. Owens charged and hit another clothesline on the outside. He threw Punk back into the ring, gave him a crotch chop, and hit a cannonball in the corner for a close call.

Punk rolled to the floor. Owens placed him on the announce desk and hit a frog splash off the barricade, breaking the table. Owens threw Punk back into the ring and hit a swanton for another count of two.

Owens went for a pop‑up powerbomb, but Punk slipped out and hit a series of kicks for a two count. Punk nailed the running knee in the corner and a clothesline. He ripped into the crowd for booing him. Punk climbed the top rope and hit the flying elbow for only a two.

Punk grabbed Owens and locked in the Anaconda Vise. Owens rolled Punk into a pin attempt, but Punk escaped. Punk hit a hangman’s neckbreaker and dragged Owens up, pounding him with elbows and strikes. Punk went for the GTS, but Owens caught the knee and locked in a Sharpshooter. Punk fought toward the ropes and finally reached them, forcing the break.

Punk rolled onto the apron. Owens grabbed him, but Punk snapped his neck across the top rope. Punk slid back into the ring. Owens went for the Stunner, but Punk shoved him into the referee. Punk tried for the GTS, but Owens pushed him again, sending the referee crashing to the floor.

Owens hit the Stunner and covered, but there was no referee. Owens checked on him and turned around into a GTS. Punk covered, but still no official.

Punk went to the outside, and Sami Zayn ran out. Zayn threw Punk into the ring post and rolled him back inside. Owens hit another Stunner. Zayn dragged the referee back into the ring. Owens covered, but Punk kicked out.

Zayn grabbed the title and handed it to Owens. Owens looked at the belt, then at Zayn on the apron. Owens told him not like this and gave the title back. Zayn blasted Owens with the belt. Punk hit the GTS, covered, and got the pin.

Winner: Still Undisputed WWE Champion, CM Punk

Punk celebrated in the ring after the win. Sami Zayn slid inside holding the title. Punk turned around and Zayn blasted him with the belt. Owens rolled back into the ring and Zayn hit him with the title too. Zayn cracked Punk again for good measure.

Zayn stood over Punk and told him Punk stole the title from him. SmackDOWN went off the air with Zayn holding the championship.

Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga of MFT defend the WWE Tag Team Championship against Damian Priest and R‑Truth. The Tongas won the titles last Friday on SmackDown in a Triple Threat that also included Ivar and Erik.
