Jacy Jayne walked out of SmackDown as the new Women’s United States Champion after defeating Tiffany Stratton on the August 14 episode. The match was shaped by Stratton’s injured ribs, the presence of Chelsea Green at ringside, and repeated interference from Fatal Influence. Stratton’s decision to protect Green instead of finishing the match ultimately cost her the title.
Stratton entered the match already hurt. Her ribs were damaged in storyline after she stepped in front of an attack aimed at Green from Lash Legend and Nia Jax. Jayne took advantage of the injury right away, driving Stratton into the corner and forcing her to defend while still trying to breathe through the pain.
Stratton found an opening when Jayne missed a senton, but Lainey Reid jumped onto the apron and pulled Stratton’s attention. While Stratton turned toward the distraction, Jayne struck with a backstabber that sent the champion down again. Reid interfered a second time with Stratton stuck in the corner, giving Jayne room to hit a cannonball. Stratton tried climbing the ropes to reset the momentum, but Jayne knocked her to the floor.
Stratton landed near Chelsea Green, who tried to help her regroup. When Jayne returned to the ring, Stratton nearly caught her with a quick roll‑up. The champion followed with a cartwheel Alabama Slam and a Swanton Bomb, but Jayne kicked out. Stratton kept pushing, hitting a springboard stunner and a rolling senton. She went for the Prettiest Moonsault Ever, but Jayne lifted her knees and drove them into Stratton’s injured ribs.

Jayne tried the Rolling Encore, but Stratton dodged it and set her up again for the moonsault. Instead of finishing the match, Stratton chose to protect Green. She launched herself to the outside and wiped out Fatal Influence rather than hit the move in the ring. The decision left her exposed. When Stratton rolled back inside, Jayne caught her immediately with the Rolling Encore and secured the pin.
Green rushed into the ring, horrified, trying to comfort Stratton as Jayne celebrated with Reid and Fallon Henley on the outside. The moment closed with Fatal Influence holding the title while Stratton and Green tried to regroup after the costly choice.
