Oba Femi vs. Bron Breakker is officially set for the special edition of WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event on September 6, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia. The match will take place in Breakker’s hometown and will determine which of the two rising stars can claim to be the future of WWE.
The match was announced during the August 17 episode of WWE RAW after Breakker called out Femi and challenged him to prove that he truly belongs at the top of WWE.
Breakker told Femi that if he wants to be considered the future of the company, he should come to the ring and take that position from him right away.
Paul Heyman then appeared and introduced himself to Breakker. Heyman described himself as an advocate, an oracle, and a wise man. He explained that he understands the difference between wise decisions and unwise ones before telling Breakker to consider the question that everyone is asking: Who is the future of WWE?
Breakker asked Heyman to give him his answer.
Oba Femi’s music then played, and the Nigerian powerhouse made his way to the ring. Femi told Breakker that he was asking a pointless question because Breakker already knows the answer.
Femi said that he knows who the future is, Breakker knows who the future is, the fans know who the future is, and even Brock Lesnar knows who the future is. According to Femi, that future is himself.
Femi then made it clear that if Breakker disagrees, he can confront him whenever and wherever he wants.
Breakker responded by challenging Femi to fight immediately.
Heyman quickly stepped between the two men and prevented the situation from turning into an impromptu match. He warned Breakker that taking a step toward Femi would mean taking a permanent step away from Heyman.
Heyman then explained why the match could not simply happen on the spot. He pointed out that WWE is a publicly traded company and the biggest wrestling promotion in the world. As a result, the company has responsibilities beyond the people watching inside the arena or at home.
According to Heyman, when two potential main eventers are standing in the ring, WWE should not waste the opportunity by putting them into an unplanned match. Instead, the company should build the confrontation into a major attraction.
Heyman argued that the person who becomes the future needs to understand the business side of WWE, including the box office and the importance of a main event. He said the match needed to be promoted properly so it could become as big as possible.
Heyman then revealed that he had already spoken with WWE Chief Content Officer Adam Pearce.

The upcoming match will put two of WWE’s most powerful young stars against each other. Femi has made it clear that he believes his future at the top is inevitable, while Breakker has already established himself as one of WWE’s most aggressive and explosive performers.
With the match taking place in Atlanta, Breakker will also have the hometown crowd behind him. Femi, however, will enter the contest with the opportunity to prove his claim that he is the future of WWE.
