Marie Malenko is reportedly set to compete under a new ring name. The daughter of Dean Malenko will now go by Kenzie as she continues her run in WWE’s developmental system.
Before this change, she had been working NXT live events and dark matches using the name Lacey Simon. Prior to signing with WWE in March, she wrestled under her real name during short stints with Pro Wrestling NOAH and Marigold, appearing twice for each promotion.
WWE officially introduced her as part of its rookie class in May. The group also included Mason Rook, Nicole Martinez, and Marcus Brown. Kenzie made her first WWE appearance later that month at the May 26 NXT taping inside the Performance Center, where she faced Zena Sterling in a dark match.
Since then, she has continued gaining experience across NXT events. Kenzie has wrestled Myka Lockwood, Vanta The Unknown, Kelani Jordan, and Gianna Capri as part of her early run in the brand.
Malenko last competed on August 7 at the NXT house show in Melbourne, FL, losing the match to Kali Armstrong.
