Long-time WWE executive director Bruce Prichard is set to officially retire from his full-time position following WrestleMania 43 next year.
According to a report from PWInsider, multiple internal sources confirmed that the veteran executive will step down from his executive duties overseeing creative writing and talent following the flagship event, transitioning instead into an ongoing advisory role with the company.
A Transition To Advisory Status Post-WrestleMania
While Prichard is slated to end his daily operational duties after the showcase event, sources emphasized that he will remain linked to the promotion through a consultancy agreement. However, as is standard within the industry, sources noted that timelines can remain fluid as the event approaches.
Currently serving as the Executive Director for both Monday Night RAW and SmackDown, Prichard’s reach extends across the entire main roster creative direction, with NXT head writers also falling directly under his managerial umbrella. As of now, WWE has not named a successor for his executive director responsibilities.
Decades Of Service Across Multiple Eras
Prichard’s career in professional wrestling spans over five decades, beginning at just 10 years old when he sold posters for Paul Boesch’s Houston Wrestling promotion in 1973:
- 1987 Debut: Joined the World Wrestling Federation as an announcer before debuting his iconic on-screen “Brother Love” persona.
- Behind-The-Scenes Rise: Returned to the company in 1992 following an initial departure, becoming Vince McMahon’s primary right-hand manager and key creative writer.
- Outside Stints: Worked extensively with TNA Wrestling and Major League Wrestling (MLW) following his 2008 departure.
- 2019 Return: Rejoined WWE’s creative division full-time in 2019, ultimately consolidating creative leadership over both primary brands by June 2020.
