Following weeks of cryptic television teasers and intense fan speculation, former WWE star Ilja Dragunov officially made his highly anticipated debut at AEW WrestleDream 2026.
During a brief break in the action during the pay-per-view, Renee Paquette made her way to the stage to introduce the company’s newest high-profile acquisition.
From Cryptic Orchestra Teases to Official Signing
Dragunov made a grand entrance to the live crowd, making his way down to the ring to strike his signature poses in the turnbuckles before heading to the back.
The appearance directly answered the mystery surrounding a cryptic 22-second vignette that aired during the recent three-hour special broadcast of Dynamite and Collision. The video, which featured a conductor leading an orchestra and a metronome sitting on a wrestling mat, was widely speculated to be for Dragunov, who elected to depart WWE when his contract expired earlier this year after seven years with the promotion.
Immediately following his on-screen debut, AEW President Tony Khan took to social media to confirm that the former NXT Champion has officially put pen to paper with the promotion.
“He has arrived in AEW tonight at #AEWWrestleDream, and now it’s official: @UNBESIEGBAR_ZAR is All Elite!” Khan posted.
Dragunov’s signing instantly bolsters AEW’s upper card, setting up a vast array of fresh marquee matchups as he begins his new chapter.
