R-Truth Vs Damian Priest Ends Early After Legitimate Referee Stoppage

R-Truth match against Damian Priest on WWE SmackDown ended in a sudden referee stoppage following an apparent legitimate injury.

Damian Priest’s singles match against R-Truth on the October 16 episode of WWE SmackDown came to an abrupt halt after the referee called for a legitimate stoppage.

The decision occurred following a concerning sequence involving Truth, leaving the status of the veteran performer as a key situation to monitor.

Abrupt Stoppage on SmackDown

The incident unfolded during the early stages of the bout between the former tag team partners. Their fierce rivalry ignited after Priest turned on Truth following a failed attempt to recapture tag team gold.

During this week’s hard-hitting encounter, Priest went face-first into the ring post before Truth capitalized with a missile dropkick. However, Truth appeared to land awkwardly on his lower back upon impact.

The match official immediately intervened, checking on Truth before signaling for the bell. The referee flashed the traditional cross-arm “X” symbol to indicate a potential real-life medical issue. The early finish also disrupted subsequent plans, as Priest retrieved a steel chair for a post-match assault only to be intercepted by Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer and Axiom), who rushed to the ring to make the save.

Backstage Reports and Original Plans

According to reports from False Finish and Fightful Select, the stoppage was entirely legitimate and forced an audible to be called on the fly. The original script called for Damian Priest to secure a clean victory over Truth before Fraxiom ran out for the post-match save.

As of writing, WWE has not issued an official update regarding R-Truth’s condition, and further details are needed to determine the severity of the setback.
