WWE SmackDown LIVE Results – October 16

WWE SmackDown Results – October 16, 2026 – Welcome to WrestlingAttitude’s live coverage results of WWE SmackDown on October 9, from the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California.

We are live from the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California, as Sami Zayn makes his way to the ring accompanied by Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae.

Zayn asks the crowd who came to ride or die with him before turning his attention to the growing list of challengers eyeing his Undisputed WWE Championship. He says he takes no pleasure in saying “I told you so,” but points out that every superstar who has been circling him and his title has failed to capitalize on their opportunities.

Zayn notes that Je’Von Evans failed to win the 2026 Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match. He also takes shots at CM Punk and Kevin Owens, reminding everyone that both men came away empty-handed as well. As for Trick Williams, Zayn says he is not even worth discussing.

The champion then shifts his focus to Penta, who did win the 2026 Men’s Money in the Bank contract. Rather than worrying about cashing in on him, Zayn suggests that Penta direct his attention toward Roman Reigns instead. Zayn remains confident that no matter who emerges as the next threat, he will continue to stand tall as Undisputed WWE Champion.

Sami Zayn’s celebration is interrupted when Trick Williams makes his way to the ring. Williams admits that there has never been any love lost between himself and the Undisputed WWE Champion, but says what started as a rivalry has become personal.

Williams promises that he is going to beat Zayn, but the champion immediately cuts him off. Zayn reminds Williams that he already warned him about showing disrespect and accuses him of turning every serious situation into a joke. Zayn says Williams himself is a joke and claims he lacks the awareness to understand when a moment calls for seriousness. According to Zayn, those instincts are necessary to survive at the top level, and Williams is still lacking them.

Williams fires back by insisting he is taking the situation seriously, but before the confrontation can escalate further, Johnny Gargano steps in. Gargano accuses Williams of disrespecting not only Zayn, but everyone who fought for the opportunities he has received. He says Williams has been handed chances that he and Zayn would have done anything to earn.

Gargano acknowledges Williams’ talent but points out that despite all those opportunities, he still does not possess the Undisputed WWE Championship.

The comments strike a nerve with Williams, who immediately challenges Gargano to a match. With Zayn encouraging him from ringside, Gargano accepts, officially setting up a showdown between the two later in the night.

Results for WWE SmackDown on October 16 continue after a commercial break.

Johnny Gargano vs. Trick Williams

The match begins with Trick Williams taking control through a wrist lock, but Johnny Gargano quickly answers with punches in the corner. Gargano follows with a kick and transitions into a side headlock as he looks to keep the larger Williams grounded.

Williams attempts to build momentum, but his knee appears to give him trouble during a leapfrog. Gargano immediately notices the opening and targets the injured leg with a kick to the back of the knee.

Williams battles through the discomfort and fires back with punches. He attempts a slam, but Gargano slips free. Williams responds with a shoulder tackle and follows up with an Irish whip, though Gargano uses the momentum to flip onto the apron.

The action continues at a physical pace as Williams lands a chop. Gargano avoids a second attempt and once again targets the knee with a precise strike. Williams refuses to back down, unloading with more punches before muscling Gargano up for a delayed vertical suplex.

Gargano tries to escape by driving a knee into Williams, but Trick powers through and completes the suplex. As Williams looks to continue the attack, Gargano wisely rolls to the floor to create some separation and regroup.

The match spills to the outside as Trick Williams follows Johnny Gargano and drives him into the announce table. Sami Zayn and Candice LeRae provide a distraction, creating an opening for Gargano to attack Trick’s leg with a dragon screw through the ropes.

Back inside the ring, Gargano methodically targets the injured knee. He sends Williams’ leg into the mat, connects with a spinning leg drop, and repeatedly kicks the hamstring. Gargano even takes time to mock Williams while maintaining control. He continues the assault with a modified single-leg crab while manipulating the leg, but Williams manages to kick free.

Gargano stays aggressive with a barrage of punches until Williams creates an opening by sending him face-first into the canvas. Gargano misses another attack on the leg, allowing Williams to rally with a pair of jumping side kicks and a flapjack.

Momentum swings firmly in Williams’ favor as he uncorks a backhand strike and follows with his signature offense. He hoists Gargano onto his shoulders, but Gargano counters with a sunset flip. The two continue exchanging momentum, with Gargano landing a forearm and enzuigiri before Williams responds with a cyclone kick and a Cradle Shock for a close two count.

Williams looks to finish the match and signals for the Trick Shot. As he prepares to strike, Candice LeRae grabs his leg from ringside. The distraction nearly costs him the match, as Gargano rolls him up for a close call. Gargano then follows with a superkick to the leg, another to the head, and a tornado DDT, but Williams still survives.

Gargano sets up for a Helluva Kick, but Williams counters by forcing him onto the apron. Gargano attempts a slingshot spear back into the ring, only for Williams to catch him with a jumping knee. Moments later, Williams plants Gargano with a uranage and scores the decisive three-count.

Winner: Trick Williams

Nick Aldis Makes a Street Fight Official

Backstage, Nick Aldis meets with Blake Monroe and informs her that her upcoming match against Giulia will now be contested under Street Fight rules. The announcement raises the stakes significantly for the already heated rivalry.

The conversation is interrupted by Chelsea Green, who joins the scene with the Women’s Championship in her possession. Monroe immediately takes notice of the title, hinting that championship gold may be in her sights. During the exchange, Aldis also reveals that Judgment Day will be arriving on SmackDown in the near future.

Before the situation can settle, Nikki Bella enters the picture. Nikki makes it clear that she remains focused on earning a Women’s Championship opportunity and confronts Green once again regarding a potential title match.

The segment ends with several women circling the championship picture, while Monroe’s newly announced Street Fight with Giulia and Nikki’s pursuit of Chelsea Green’s title both continue to gain momentum.

Paige vs. Nikki Bella

The match starts aggressively with Nikki Bella taking Paige down and unloading with punches. Nikki keeps the pressure on by sending Paige to the floor, then follows her outside and drives her into the ringside barricade.

Nikki looks to repeat the attack, but Paige counters and sends Nikki crashing into the barricade instead. Paige takes control from there, targeting Nikki’s back and repeatedly driving her into the barrier at ringside.

Paige then rolls Nikki back into the ring, but Nikki quickly creates separation and heads back to the floor. Looking to maintain her momentum, Nikki attempts a baseball slide through the ropes. Paige anticipates it, pulling up the ring skirt to disrupt the attack before catching Nikki with a punch.

With the action spilling around ringside, Paige manages to halt Nikki’s early offense and seize control of the match.

The physical battle continues with Paige hanging Nikki Bella across the middle rope and driving her knees into Nikki’s midsection. Nikki quickly answers by dropping Paige across the top rope and sending her tumbling to the floor. Paige struggles to beat the referee’s count but manages to get back into the ring.

Nikki takes over from there, unloading with forearms and shoulder strikes in the corner before connecting with a suplex. She follows with a clothesline in the corner and more shoulder thrusts, then attempts a superplex after bringing Paige to the top rope. Paige fights her off with headbutts, but Nikki recovers and drops Paige onto the turnbuckles before locking in a rear chinlock with her knee pressed into Paige’s back.

Paige battles out with elbows, but Nikki plants her with a spinebuster for a two count. Nikki then looks for Rack Attack 2.0, only for Paige to escape and answer with a running knee to the head.

Momentum swings in Paige’s favor as she strings together clotheslines, a fisherman’s suplex, and a German suplex. She looks for the Paige Turner, but Nikki rakes her eyes to break the sequence. Paige regains control with a belly-to-back suplex and then surprisingly teases a Five Knuckle Shuffle, only for Nikki to counter into an STF. Paige reaches the ropes to force a break.

As the match enters its closing stretch, Paige rakes Nikki’s eyes and drives her down with a Death Valley Driver for a close two count. Another Paige Turner attempt is stopped when Nikki blasts her with a running forearm. Nikki nearly steals the win moments later, but Paige escapes another setup.

Nikki attempts to use the referee as a shield during a scramble, then scores a close two count with a roll-up. Paige answers with a roll-up of her own and secures extra leverage by placing her foot on the ropes. The referee misses it and counts the three.

Winner: Paige

R-Truth Sends a Message to Damian Priest

Backstage, Cathy Kelley catches up with R-Truth ahead of his match against Damian Priest.

Truth says Priest should have known he considered him a friend, but believes Priest betrayed that friendship. Clearly angry about the situation, Truth promises payback and warns Priest that he is coming for him.

The show cuts to a commercial . We will be back for more WWE SmackDown results for October 16, 2026.

Nick Aldis Tries to Keep the Peace

Backstage in the trainer’s room, Kevin Owens is recovering from the events of Money in the Bank when Nick Aldis checks on him. Owens admits that he is doing alright, but says his back is still bothering him. He also points out that while he failed to win the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, CM Punk came up short as well.

The mention of Punk quickly becomes relevant when Punk walks into the room. Without hesitation, he makes it clear that he wants a match with Owens.

Before the confrontation can escalate, Aldis steps in and addresses both men. He explains that, from his perspective, it is in everyone’s best interest for them to be healthy and operating at 100 percent. Aldis says a fight backstage or anywhere outside the ring accomplishes nothing for the show.

Instead, Aldis reveals that he wants the match to happen officially and under proper conditions. Until then, he instructs both Owens and Punk to stay away from one another and avoid any physical altercations.

The tense encounter ends with the rivalry still simmering, as Aldis works to keep the two former rivals apart until the time is right for them to settle their issues in the ring.

Damian Priest vs. R-Truth

The match gets underway before the opening bell officially sounds when R-Truth knocks Damian Priest off the apron and follows up with a kick. Once the referee calls for the bell, Truth continues aggressively, connecting with a split followed by a jumping side kick.

Truth attempts to keep the pressure on with another split, but Priest answers with a thrust kick that shifts momentum in his favor. Priest takes control, driving Truth into the turnbuckles, landing kicks, and wearing him down with a series of strikes. Truth fights back with punches, but Priest responds with a knee strike, a forearm, and a leaping elbow in the corner before connecting with Broken Arrow for a two count.

Priest continues the punishment by choking Truth on the ropes and stretching him with submission holds. Truth shows resilience and mounts a brief comeback, connecting with a kick and later a missile dropkick after Priest misses a corner splash.

However, the damage has already taken its toll. After the missile dropkick, the referee checks on Truth and determines that he is unable to continue. The match is stopped.

Winner: Damian Priest by Referee Stoppage

Post-Match

Following the decision, Priest retrieves a steel chair and looks prepared to continue the assault. The referee tries to intervene, but help soon arrives in the form of Axiom and Nathan Frazer.

The arrival of the duo convinces Priest to back off. He drops the chair and exits the ring, leaving Axiom and Frazer to check on Truth as the situation de-escalates.

We will return after a break with more results from the October 16 episode of WWE SmackDown.

Gunther Confronts Danhausen

Backstage, Gunther storms into Nick Aldis’ office and immediately addresses the recent controversy surrounding himself, Danhausen, and Finn Bálor. Gunther insists that Danhausen never belonged in the ring with him and claims he simply did everyone a favor by taking him out. He also warns that what happened to Bálor is the consequence of involving yourself in his business.

The conversation takes an unexpected turn when Danhausen slowly spins around in Aldis’ chair. Unfazed by Gunther’s presence, Danhausen questions why Gunther is even there.

Gunther responds by pointing out that Danhausen somehow returned after everything that happened the previous week. Danhausen quickly fires back, reminding Gunther that he never actually defeated him.

The comment visibly irritates Gunther. He grabs Danhausen and delivers a chilling warning, saying that while he does not celebrate Halloween, he intends to make it a very special night for Danhausen. The tense confrontation ends with the threat hanging in the air and a potential showdown looming.

Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley Celebrate Their Title Win

The newly crowned WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley, make their way to the ring to celebrate their championship victory.

Alexa opens by acknowledging how unlikely their championship journey may have seemed. She takes time to praise Charlotte Flair, noting that Charlotte willingly stepped aside from a title opportunity to support her friends instead. Alexa then turns her attention to Tatum, thanking her for stepping into a difficult environment and congratulating her on capturing her first championship on SmackDown.

Tatum echoes the gratitude, saying she is thankful for the opportunity to stand in the ring as champion. She specifically thanks Charlotte for sacrificing her own opportunity and defending her when she needed it most. Tatum even hints at having a special gift waiting for Charlotte upon her return.

Before Tatum can reveal anything further, Fatal Influence interrupts.

Jacy Jayne mocks the celebration, calling the champions’ speeches embarrassing. She quickly shifts focus to her own frustrations, complaining about her recent injury and accusing Tiffany Stratton of stealing her briefcase. Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid add fuel to the fire, insisting that Charlotte does not truly care about either Tatum or Alexa.

Jacy continues the verbal assault, claiming Charlotte’s friendship is only based on convenience and warning that once Fallon and Lainey regain the Women’s Tag Team Championships, Alexa and Tatum will return to living in Charlotte’s shadow.

Tatum isn’t intimidated and tells Fatal Influence they can have another title opportunity if they want one. The confrontation immediately turns physical as Fallon and Lainey attack the champions. Alexa and Tatum fight back, sending Fallon and Reid to the floor, while Tatum traps Jacy in an arm wringer before the situation breaks down completely.

Rey Fenix Addresses Penta’s Money in the Bank Victory

Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviews Rey Fenix ahead of his match later in the evening. Fenix says he is ready for competition and proudly speaks about his brother Penta’s Money in the Bank victory.

The interview is interrupted by Sami Zayn. The Undisputed WWE Champion congratulates Fenix on his success and asks whether he has spoken with Penta about his future plans. Zayn mentions that he understands what it is like to lose a championship match in one’s home country and is clearly curious about Penta’s intentions.

Fenix gives Zayn little information, stating that he does not know who Penta plans to cash in on. He simply wishes Zayn luck before heading off to prepare for his match, leaving the champion without any answers regarding the looming Money in the Bank threat.

Results for the October 16 episode of WWE SmackDown continue following a commercial break.

Fatal Influence Confronted Backstage

Backstage, Fatal Influence is confronted by Michin, Jade Cargill, and B-Fab. B-Fab argues that her team should have been competing for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship instead of Fatal Influence. Michin backs her up and makes it clear that they are next in line, suggesting they may be waiting for Fatal Influence on the other side once the title picture settles.

AAA Cruiserweight Championship: Rey Fenix (c) vs. Ricky Saints

The championship match begins with a technical exchange as Rey Fenix and Ricky Saints lock up. Saints gains an early advantage with a side headlock and shoulder tackle, but Fenix responds with a headscissors takeover and takes control of the pace.

Fenix follows up with a chop and a wristlock before dazzling the crowd with a springboard twisting arm drag that sends Saints to the floor. Fenix teases a dive, but Saints gets back into the ring and cuts him off with a clothesline.

Saints begins targeting the champion, landing punches and repeatedly driving Fenix into the turnbuckles. He even grabs at Fenix’s mask and follows up with a leaping knee drop for a two count. Despite Fenix’s attempts to rally, Saints remains in control and nearly scores a victory after catching a somersault senton and turning it into a powerbomb for a close call.

Fenix eventually battles back with a handspring cutter, a frog splash, and several kicks, but neither man can put the other away. Saints responds with a Death Valley Driver for another close call before both competitors enter a frantic closing stretch.

Fenix connects with a super rana and heads to the top rope looking to finish the match. Sensing defeat, Saints shoves the referee into the ropes to stop Fenix’s momentum. Saints then connects with Roshambo, but the referee is unable to make the count because of the interference.

As Saints argues with the official, the referee has seen enough and calls for the bell.

Winner by Disqualification and Still AAA Cruiserweight Champion: Rey Fenix

Ricky Saints Attacks After the Bell

The loss does not sit well with Saints. After the match, he attacks Fenix, unloading with punches before planting the champion with Roshambo. Officials are left to deal with the aftermath as Saints stands tall over the fallen champion.

Cody Rhodes Looks for Randy Orton

In another backstage segment, Cody Rhodes approaches Nick Aldis and asks whether Randy Orton is ready for later in the evening.

Aldis admits that he has not seen Orton. Cody acknowledges that Aldis has done everything he can, then says he will head to the ring and take matters into his own hands. The segment ends with Rhodes determined to get answers himself.

The show heads to another commercial. More WWE SmackDown results from October 16 are coming up next.

Next Week on SmackDown

Several matches are made official for next week’s show:

  • Blake Monroe vs. Giulia in a Street Fight
  • Alexa Bliss & Tatum Paxley (c) vs. B-Fab & Michin for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship
  • MFT vs. Shinsuke Nakamura & Kiyoki in a non-title match

Cody Rhodes Calls Out Randy Orton

Cody Rhodes heads to the ring carrying a steel chair. Cody sets the chair up in the middle of the ring and explains that Sacramento was promised a face-to-face confrontation. Since Randy Orton has yet to appear, Cody says he is willing to wait until Orton comes out.

Instead, Baron Corbin interrupts.

Corbin says he knows he is not the man Cody or the fans were expecting. He then launches into a verbal attack, claiming he has never understood what people see in Rhodes. Corbin says that despite everything that has changed in WWE, Cody remains the same person standing in a ring complaining about his problems.

He mocks Cody for constantly talking about finishing his story, being betrayed by friends, and lacking the killer instinct necessary to stay on top. Corbin contrasts that with his own return, pointing to the chaos he caused on his first night back and his United States Championship victory at SummerSlam. According to Corbin, being liked or respected does not matter. The only thing that matters is taking what he wants, even if that comes at Cody’s expense.

Cody admits he would normally have more patience for a speech like that, but he is in no mood to listen. When Corbin takes a swing, Cody avoids it and immediately fires back. Rhodes unloads with punches before clotheslining Corbin over the top rope and to the floor.

With Orton still nowhere to be found, Cody turns his attention back to Corbin and proposes an immediate match.

Baron Corbin vs. Cody Rhodes

The unscheduled match gets underway as soon as Baron Corbin returns to the ring. Cody Rhodes immediately goes on the attack with a series of kicks, but Corbin quickly turns the tide.

Corbin plants Rhodes with a Deep Six and gets a two count before continuing his assault with strikes and a hard Irish whip. He keeps Cody on the defensive with a knee to the midsection and additional punches. Momentum finally shifts when Corbin misses a shoulder charge and crashes into the ring post.

With an opening created, Rhodes begins his comeback. After both men collide with clotheslines, Cody rises first and unloads with punches, a running forearm, a powerslam, and his signature jab combination followed by a Bionic Elbow. He then connects with Beautiful Disaster and looks for Cross Rhodes.

Before he can hit the move, Randy Orton suddenly appears and drags Cody out of the ring.

Winner by DQ: Cody Rhodes

Randy Orton Returns

Following the disqualification, Orton immediately attacks Rhodes at ringside. He sends Cody into the barricade and continues the assault with punches, elbows, and forearms before driving him into the ring post.

The fight spills back into the ring, where Orton stalks Cody and sets up for a punt kick. Cody avoids it and fires back with a Cody Cutter, leaving Orton down on one knee. Rhodes then backs into the corner, teasing a kick of his own.

Before Cody can strike, Corbin inserts himself back into the action and drops Rhodes with a splash. Orton uses the distraction to exit the ring. Corbin attempts End of Days, but Cody escapes, counters, and blasts him with a double-jump Cody Cutter.

As Cody turns his attention back to Orton, the two stare each other down. Orton taunts Rhodes and dares him to take the next step, but Cody chooses not to go after him. Instead, he drops Corbin with a kick to the head as SmackDown comes to a close.

The final image of the show is Rhodes standing tall in the ring while Orton watches from a distance, leaving their confrontation unresolved heading into next week.

WWE SmackDown Preview – October 16, 2026

The fallout from Money In The Bank continues tonight as several personal rivalries take center stage. Former allies collide, old grudges resurface, and two of WWE’s biggest names come face-to-face once again.

Paige vs. Nikki Bella

Paige returns to singles action against Nikki Bella. The rivalry has grown increasingly bitter since Nikki and Brie Bella attacked Paige following their loss to Fatal Influence at SummerSlam. Nikki has blamed Paige for Brie’s injury ever since, and the bad blood between the former friends has only intensified. Tonight, they finally settle things in the ring.

Damian Priest vs. R-Truth

Damian Priest faces R-Truth for the first time since turning on his former tag team partner. The split came after Priest and Truth failed to capture the AAA World Tag Team Championship from The War Raiders last month. Priest launched a surprise attack immediately after the match, ending their partnership and beginning a new chapter in their rivalry.

Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton Meet Again

Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton are both scheduled to appear after weeks of escalating tensions. Orton cost Rhodes a spot in the Men’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match when he interfered in Rhodes’ qualifier earlier this month. Since then, neither man has backed down. Tonight’s confrontation could be the next step toward another major showdown between the longtime rivals.
